About This User’s GuideThis guide contains overviews as well as task and referenceinformation about Oracle Inventory. This guide includes the followingchapters: Chapter 1 provides information about setting up Inventory aswell as other integrated Oracle ApplicationsNote: Implementation information and procedures arecontained in this chapter. Chapter 2 shows how Inventory represents your company’sinventory sites and business units. This includes definingorganizations, locations, subinventories, and locators dependingon your company structure. Chapter 3 describes methods for defining and manipulatingunits of measure, and how to convert between the units youdefine. Chapter 4 discusses control and reference options that you mustestablish before defining items. These enable you to maintain,group, reference, query, and delete your items. Chapter 5 tells you how to define and control items that youstock in inventory. Once defined, you assign items toorganizations. You choose whether to have centralized ordecentralized control of your items through a variety of itemattributes. Chapter 6 describes controls and options that you must setbefore performing inventory transactions. Chapter 7 describes the transactions, views, and reports used tomaintain inventory control from the time you receive items tothe time you ship finished goods to the customer. Chapter 8 discusses the windows you can use to view on–handquantities, reservations, supply/demand, available to promise,supply chain available to promise, and capable to promiseinformation. Chapter 9 shows you how you can manage your inventory levelsusing any combination of min–max planning, reorder pointplanning, and a replenishment system for generating orders. Chapter 11 describes Inventory’s ABC features through whichyou can determine the relative value of a group of inventoryitems based on a user–specified valuation criterion. Chapter 12 explains defining, scheduling, generating, approving,and purging cycle counts. Chapter 13 covers physical inventories from their definition andgeneration of tags, through counting and adjustments, topurging physical inventory information.
