It isyour responsibility to know policies and meet deadlines aspublished.AdmissionsEligibility and AdmissionAdmission to the summer session for both days and eveningclasses is open to: All students currently enrolled at Fairleigh DickinsonUniversity. Students enrolled at other colleges and universities High school graduates who have been accepted atFairleigh Dickinson University or another college oruniversity. College graduates interested in taking courses forenrichment or career purposes. Qualified high school students (specific courses). Individuals from the community.Admission to the University for New StudentsAll individuals wishing to apply for admission to the University asnew, readmit (did not attend Spring 2020) or transfer, shouldcontact the Admissions Office on the appropriate campus.CampusMetropolitanFlorhamPetrocelli nt Testing RequirementsAll incoming undergraduate students (full-time, part-time, transferor international) must demonstrate a minimum level of Englishand Mathematics proficiency through testing or the use oftransfer credits accepted by FDU. Students who do not meet theminimum levels of proficiency in English and Mathematics musttake special courses designed to help them develop the requiredproficiency. Be advised that these special courses are notapplicable to degree requirements.International graduate students must demonstrate a minimumlevel of English proficiency through testing. Students who do notmeet the minimum level of proficiency in English must takespecial courses designed to help them develop the requiredproficiency.AdvisingUpon completion of the admissions process, new students willbe directed to the appropriate department/advising center foracademic advising and registration.RegistrationIn-person registration is currently not available in the Office ofEnrollment Services. Webregistration will be available to continuing graduate andundergraduate students currently enrolled for the Spring 2020term. Students may register at any time between 8:00 a.m. and11:00 p.m. up to the day before a class begins. AccessWebAdvisor: https://webadvisor.fdu.edu/. See Page 5 forguidelines.Undergraduate students: are required to meet with anacademic advisor to prepare their summer schedule and toobtain access to register on the web. A student may register onthe web at any time up to the day before a class begins for theSummer session. Please refer to Holds and RegistrationInformation on WebAdvisor to check for any “Holds” that mayblock you from registration. Contact the correspondingdepartment to resolve any hold that may inhibit you fromSummer registration. Page 5Guidelines for Web Registration using the WebAdvisorsystem for Undergraduate students: Undergraduate students must meet with an advisor to gainaccess to register on the web.Undergraduates can only register for a maximum of 12credits online. Additional credits must be processedthrough the Office of Enrollment Services by e-mailingMetro Campus esteafdu@fdu.edu or Florham Campusesmadfdu@fdu.eduIf a student on probation registers for a ‘future’ term, thesystem will not allow the student to exceed the currentrestricted limit. The Dean’s office will contact the student, ifhis/her probation and credit limit are extended into thefuture term and inform him/her to reduce their courseschedule.The system will check for prerequisites and corequisites.If a course has one of the following ‘restrictions’ a studentmust register for this class in-person: DA/DepartmentApproval Needed, DC/Department Chair Approval Needed,RC/Regional Center Approval Needed, HO/HonorsProgram Approval Needed.Other courses with a ‘Restriction’ will be validated within thesystem to ensure that the student meets the criteria. If theydon’t, they will be blocked from registering for the course.A registration form must be completed for each student whoregisters in person. The form requires the student andadvisor’s signature.An EOF student must meet with his/her EOF advisor inaddition to his/her academic advisor in order to gain accessto WebAdvisor.Students in the 5-year Quest program must meet with aQuest advisor in addition to their academic advisor in orderto gain access to WebAdvisor.If a student has a ‘Hold’ on his/her record due to an unpaidbill, medical records not presented to the Health Office,Dean’s Hold, Loan Hold or any other hold, the student willbe blocked from registration. Please view Holds andRegistration Information on WebAdvisor to identify holds onyour record.A student will acknowledge University policy regardingacademic and financial terms prior to registering online.To register for all 3 Summer Sessions, please select‘20/SU’ in the drop down.Some advisors may choose ‘not to permit’ their students theoption to register online. If this occurs, the advisor should notrelease the hold flag in PERC. When releasing the hold flag,ALWAYS use the prior day’s date, otherwise the release will notgo into effect until midnight of the current date, thus blocking astudent from registering before this time.Graduate students: are encouraged but not required to meetwith an academic advisor before registering on the web. Manygraduate courses have variable start dates: therefore, youmay register for a course up to the day before a classbegins. Please refer to Holds and Registration Information onWebAdvisor to check for any “Holds” that may block you fromregistration.
