Valdis DombrovskisVice-Presidentof the European CommissionValdis Dombrovskis is currentlyVice-President for the Euro andSocial Dialogue of the EuropeanCommission.VP Dombrovskis has been VicePresident since 2014 and hastaken responsibilities over FinancialStability, Financial Services andCapital Markets Union since mid2016. Philipp HartmannDeputy Director-General Research,European Central BankPhilipp Hartmann is Deputy DirectorGeneral of the research departmentat the European Central Bank, whichhe helped building up from its start.He also coordinates the ECB’s work onfinancial integration and is a Fellowof the Centre for Economic PolicyResearch. Previously, he worked atthe London School of Economics andthe European Monetary Institute.Mr. Hartmann published research onfinancial, monetary and internationalissues in several books and numerousjournal articles.He serves as an associate editor ofthe Journal of Financial Stability.His policy work has been published inmany official reports and discussedin fora including the ECOFIN Council,the ECB Governing Council andthe Basel Committee on BankingSupervision.Mr. Hartmann holds a Doctorat enSciences Economiques (EHESS, Paris).

Peter PraetMember of the Executive Board,European Central BankPeter Praet joined the EuropeanCentral Bank as Member of theExecutive Board in 2011. He isresponsible for the DirectorateGeneral Economics.Before joining the ECB, Peter Praetwas Executive Director of the NationalBank of Belgium (2000-2011). Herehe was responsible for InternationalCooperation, Financial Stability andOversight of Financial Infrastructuresand Payments Systems.Between 2002 and 2011, he wasalso a Member of the ManagementCommittee of the Belgian Banking,Finance and Insurance Commission(CBFA), where he was responsiblefor Prudential Policy for banking andinsurance.Peter Praet served as Chief ofCabinet for the Belgian Minister ofFinance from 1999-2000, as ChiefEconomist of Générale de Banqueand Fortis Bank from 1988-1999,as Professor of Economics at theUniversité Libre de Bruxelles from1980-1987, and as Economist at theInternational Monetary Fund from1978-1980.He earned a Ph.D. in Economics fromthe Université Libre de Bruxelles in1980.Peter Praet served on several highlevel international committees,including the Basel Committee onBanking Supervision, the Committeeon Payment and Settlement Systems,the Committee on the GlobalFinancial System, and the EuropeanBanking Authority.He was First Alternate of the Board ofDirectors of the Bank for InternationalSettlements from 2000-2011.

Luigi Federico SignoriniDeputy Governor,Banca d’ItaliaSince 2013, Luigi Federico Signorinihas been Deputy Governor of theBank of Italy, and, in this capacity,member of the BoI Governing Boardand of the Board of the Italianinsurance authority (Ivass).He is also a member of the BaselCommittee, the Board of theEuropean Banking Authority, andother European and internationalbodies.Born in 1955, he studied economicsat the University of Florence and atHarvard.He has worked for the Bank since1982, when he joined the ResearchDepartment; his research interestshave included structural policy,business cycles, local development,banking markets.In 1994-96 he was advisor andspeechwriter for Prime Minister Dini.In 1996-98 he was responsiblefor the Bank’s network of regionalresearch staff.In 1997-2008 he headed theEconomic and Financial StatisticsDepartment and participated invarious ECB and EU statistical bodies.In 2008 he moved to financialsupervision, as head of Regulationfirst, then of Banking groupssupervision, and finally (2012-13) asmanaging director for the supervisionarea.He authored books and articles onlocal development, the structureof the Italian economy, economicanalysis and economic statisticsmethodology; he wrote also a nontechnical book on the Italian economywith Ignazio Visco.

Mario NavaDirector, DG FISMA,European CommissionAs of May 2016, Mario Nava isDirector of the ‘Financial systemsurveillance and crisis management’directorate in the Financial Stability,Financial Services and CapitalMarkets Union DG (formerly theInternal Markets and Services DG) ofthe European Commission.He was previously Director ofthe ‘Regulation and prudentialsupervision of financial institutions’directorate.From 2009 until 2013, he wasHead of the ‘Banking and FinancialConglomerates’ unit.MarioNavaheldnumerousresponsibilities in the EuropeanCommission that he joined in 1994.He graduated from the BocconiUniversity, from the UniversitéCatholique de Louvain and from theLondon School of Economics.

Alejandra KindelánHead of Economic Research and Public Policy,Banco SantanderMs. Kindelán joined Santander’sResearch Department in 1994 whereshe was in charge of the internationaleconomy.research on Spain, Eurozone, UKand Latin American countries for theGroup’s Financial Division and othersupport and business areas.In 2001 she was appointed asHead of Research and Public PolicyDepartment at Banco Santander.She and her team also provide supportto the Bank’s top management(chairman and board members)in drafting speeches, articles andpresentations.Today she is Senior Vice-Presidentof the Communications, GroupMarketing and Research Division.She oversees the Research, PublicPolicy, Institutional and Governmentrelations and Protocol departments.Ms. Kindelan is also member ofthe Board of Santander Rio, theSantander Group franchise inArgentina.Among her current ��s position in regulatoryand non-regulatory financial ionswithinstitutionalstakeholdersand Santander s presence ininternational fora.Prior to joining Santander Ms.Kindelán worked as a consultantfor the World Bank. Monique GoyensDirector General,BEUC - Bureau Européen des Unions de ConsommateursAs Director General of BEUC, MoniqueGoyens represents 43 independentnational consumer associations in31 European countries, acting as astrong consumer voice in Brussels,ensuring that consumer’ interestsare given weight in the developmentof policies and raising the visibilityand effectiveness of the consumermovement through lobbying EUinstitutions and media contacts.As a consumer expert and advocate,she was member of the EU Highlevel Expert Group on reforming thestructure of the EU banking sector(Liikanen group - 2012) and the EUResource Efficiency Platform (20122014).She is now member of the EU HighLevel Forum for a Better FunctioningFood Supply Chain and a delegatein the Consultative Commission onIndustrial Change of the EuropeanEconomic and Social Committee.She is an effective member of theEuro Retail Payments Board andrecently, she has been appointed inthe Advisory Group of the EuropeanCommission on the TransatlanticTrade & Investment Partnership(TTIP) as well as in the AdvisoryGroup of Transparency InternationalEU.In her capacity as BEUC DirectorGeneral, Monique is currently EU cochair of the Transatlantic ConsumerDialogue (TACD) a network of EU andUS consumer organisations, and shealso represents BEUC at ConsumersInternational,theinternationalconsumer organisation.Apart from championing consumer’rights,Monique’spassions/challenges are her family, cookingfor friends and long walks with hergolden retriever.

Philip MolyneuxProfessor of Banking and Finance,Bangor Business SchoolPhilip Molyneux is currently the Deanof the College of Business, Law,Education and Social Sciences andProfessor of Banking and Finance atBangor University, UK.His main areas of research are on thestructure and efficiency of bankingmarkets and he has published widelyin this area. Recent publicationsappear in the Review of Finance,Journal of Money, Credit and Bankingand the Journal of Banking andFinance.He has also co-authored a variety oftexts in banking areas including anIntroduction to Banking (2nd Edition,FT Prentice Hall), Introduction toGlobal Financial Markets (8th Edition,Palgrave Macmillan) and the OxfordHandbook of Banking (2nd Edition,Oxford University Press).In the past has acted as a consultantto: New York Federal Reserve Bank,World Bank, European Commission,UK Treasury; Citibank Private Bank,Barclays Wealth, McKinsey & co,Credit Suisse and various otherinternational banks and consultingfirms.

Vítor ConstâncioVice-President,European Central BankVítor Constâncio is Vice-President ofthe European Central Bank since 1June 2010. In this capacity, he is alsoa member of the Executive Board,the Governing Council and GeneralCouncil of the European Central Bank.He was Governor of Banco de Portugalfrom 1985 to 1986. In this position,he was engaged in several reforms,paving the way for the country’sEuropean Economic Community (EEC)membership in 1986. In February2000, he was re-appointed Governorof Banco de Portugal, a position helduntil May 2010. Vítor Constânciowas Executive Director of BancoPortuguês de Investimento from1995 to 2000 and non-executiveDirector of Electricidade de Portugal(EDP), the Portuguese national powerutility between 1998 and 2000.Prior to that, he was Finance Ministerin 1978 and Secretary of State from1974 to 1976 as well as Presidentof the Commission for EuropeanIntegration in 1977, in charge ofthe membership negotiations ofPortugal with the EEC. He was alsoMember of Parliament and Presidentof the Parliamentary Commission onEuropean Affairs between 1980 and1981.He graduated in Economics fromUniversidade Técnica de Lisboafollowed by post-graduate studiesat Bristol University. He was InvitedSenior Professor of Economics atthe Instituto Superior de Economia eGestão from 1989 to 2010, as Coordinator of the Master’s Degree onMonetary and Financial Economics,teachingMacroeconomicsandMonetary Theory and Policy.Vítor Constâncio has authoredseveral articles and papers onmacroeconomic and financial topics.

Verena RossExecutive Director,ESMAVerena Ross is the Executive Directorof the European Securities andMarkets Authority (ESMA). She wasappointed to the role in March 2011and joined ESMA on 1 June 2011.run the Executive Chairman’s officeduring the regulator’s start-up phase,and was briefly a seconded advisorto the Hong Kong Securities andFutures Commission in 2000.She is the first Executive Directorof the organisation and forms partof the senior management teamalong with the Chair of ESMA. Hans-Ole JochumsenNasdaqVice ChairmanHans-Ole Jochumsen is ViceChairman of Nasdaq.
