Important Safety Guidelinesfor OwnersFollow these guidelines to maintain proper workingcondition of the equipment:Important: Do not modify the equipment or any ofits parts, or permanently remove any part from theequipment. Do not use accessory attachments thatare not recommended by Precor, as such attachmentsmight cause injuries. Qualified technicians must perform all regularmaintenance.Make sure that trainers, facility personnel, andmaintenance technicians understand how to usethe equipment, know important safety guidelines,and can recognize potential problems such as aworn cable or cracked weld.Strength training requires a significant focus by thefacility and its staff to maintain the quality of thefitness environment. If possible, the facility shouldprovide direct supervision of the fitness equipmentat all times by people knowledgeable about thesafe operation of the equipment and trained torecognize potential problems.If any staff member witnesses unsafe use of theequipment, the staff member should address theuser directly, demonstrate the proper technique,and review the Important Safety Information forUsers. Precor recommends posting a copy of theImportant Safety Information for Users near theequipment in a prominent location.Important Safety Instructions Make sure the equipment is stable and placed ona solid, level surface. The equipment is designed tobe freestanding; however, equipment can be boltedto the floor for extra stability. Consult a qualifiedgeneral contractor for proper fastening methods.Make sure that the equipment is installed withenough free space for safe operation. With mostequipment, the general rule is to allow about a4-foot (1.2-meter) circle of space from the user’scenter. For Functional Training equipment, makesure that the operating space is large enough toallow the cables to be fully extended in all possibledirections.Check the equipment thoroughly based on therecommended inspection schedules outlined inthis manual, including daily, weekly, monthly andannual checks.Place an “out-of-order” sign on the equipmentduring maintenance of the equipment or thesurrounding area. Users should never beallowed to operate the equipment until it hasbeen inspected and works properly. If a piece ofequipment needs service, keep it out of use untilrepaired. Whenever a weight can drop and hit auser, such as with an Olympic bench,Precor highly recommends that ahelper or spotter be used. Locate the equipment at least 40 inches (1 meter) away fromwalls or furniture on either side of the equipment, and 40 inches(1 meter) away from objects behind the equipment. ForFunctional Training equipment, make sure that the operatingspace is large enough to allow the cables to be fully extended inall possible directions. Make sure the equipment is stable and placed on a solid, levelsurface. The equipment is designed to be freestanding; however,it can be bolted to the floor for extra stability. Precor highlyrecommends that the equipment be bolted to the floor to reducethe risk of toppling the equipment due to improper use. Sincefloor construction varies, please consult a professional buildingengineer for proper fastening. Check the equipment thoroughly based on the recommendedinspection schedules outlined in this manual, including daily,weekly, monthly and annual checks. Ensure all bolt connectionsare tight and that the threaded cables are properly and tightlysecured at both ends. Place an “out-of-order” sign on the equipment duringmaintenance of the equipment or the surrounding area. Usersshould never be allowed to operate the equipment until it hasbeen inspected and works properly.
