Application FeaturesCritical and Cardiac Care Features The monitor performs multi-lead arrhythmia detection analysis onthe patient’s ECG waveform at the bedside. It analyzes for ventriculararrhythmias, calculates heart rate, and generates alarms, includingasystole, bradycardia, and ventricular fibrillation. Up to 12 leads of ST segment analysis can be performed on adultpatients at the bedside, measuring ST segment elevation anddepression and generating alarms and events. The user can trend STchanges, set high and low alarm limits, and set both ST and isoelectricmeasurement points. Using ST Snippets, one-second wave segmentscan be compared with a baseline segment for each measured ST lead.ST points can be set either relative to the J-point or directly byselecting a numeric value. QT/QTc interval monitoring provides the measured QT interval, the calculated heart-rate corrected QTc value and a QTc value, which tracks variation in the QT interval in relation to a baselinevalue. SvO2 and ScvO2 measurements provide guidance for the treatmentof sepsis treatment protocols. The Parameter Histogram View of the Vital Signs Trend allows theclinician to see, at a glance, the stability of the patient's condition for aselected time period. ST Map application shows ST changes over time in two multi-axisspider diagrams. 12-lead ECG data can be measured, using either the EASI placementmethod with five standard electrodes or conventional electrodeplacement with 10 electrodes.112 real-time ECG waveforms can be displayed simultaneously.Diagnostic 12-lead ECG can be captured, reviewed and stored on thepatient monitor before it is sent to the Informations Center. Localprintout is available, in harmonized layout. High performance pulse oximetry technologies perform accuratelyeven in cases with low perfusion. Choice of Microstream, sidestream and mainstream CO2 monitoringfor high quality measurements with intubated and non-intubatedpatients. A choice of cardiac output measurements using the right-heartthermodilution method and continuous cardiac outputmeasurements with advanced hemodynamic assessment providedusing the PiCCOTM method without a pulmonary catheter.2 Clinical calculations enable stored and manually entered data to beused to perform hemodynamic, ventilation and oxygenation1EASI-derived 12-lead ECGs and their measurements are approximations to conventional12-lead ECGs. As the 12-lead ECG derived with EASI is not exactly identical to the 12lead conventional ECG obtained from an electrocardiograph, it should not be used fordiagnostic purposes.2PiCCOTM is a trademark of Pulsion Medical Systems AG.calculations. Calculated data is displayed in both indexed and nonindexed format. The Drug Calculator helps you to manage intravenous (IV) druginfusions by calculating drug dose, rate, amount, volume, concentration, and standardized rate. Using the support tool, thedrug calculator can be configured to include a list of commonly useddrugs. Basic Event Surveillance automatically detects changes in patients’condition and stores an electronic record of data called an episode, providing you with 20 minutes of data sampled every 12 seconds or15 seconds of a high-resolution wave trace. Events can be triggeredby alarms, by user-configured conditions, or manually by selecting adedicated SmartKey. Event Annotation allows immediate orretrospective annotation of events using a user-defined list of eventmarkers, such as “ventilated”. Events can be stored in a database for retrospective review anddocumented in a report or on a recording.Anesthesia FeaturesThe IntelliVue G1 and G5 measure the five most commonly usedanesthetic gases, as well as N2O and CO2. The integrated BIS module assesses the level of consciousness in theOR, providing a measure of the effect of anesthetic agents. VueLink provides an external device interfacing capability toAnesthesia Machines and other external instruments which have aserial RS-232 and/or analog output. It generates alarms and providesup to two waves and six numerics, depending on the device. The IntelliBridge EC10 Module provides external device interfacecapability to external devices at the bedside which have a serial RS232 and/or LAN output. The EEG module determines coma prognosis and extent of cerebralinsult. CSA information can be either permanently displayed onspecially designed screens or viewed in a separate window. Screens provide flexible viewing of patient information duringdifferent procedures or phases of an anesthesia case. The Spirometry Module provides airway pressure, volume and flowmeasurements. Trended values can also be viewed in the form of a histogram. TheSpO2 histograms can be trend histograms or real-time histogramswith 1-second samples. Respiratory LoopsThe IntelliVue Patient monitor can generate three types ofrespiratory Loops:– Pressure-Volume Loop– Pressure-Flow Loop– Volume-Flow LoopThe monitor can display one real-time loop and up to 6 stored loopssimultaneously. This assists in early detection of patient airway5

problems (for example, atelectasis, bronchospasm) and ventilatorproblems (for example, leaks and kinked tubes).Neonatal Monitoring Features Transcutaneous gas (TcGas) monitoring helps to optimizerespiratory therapy in neonates. Dual-Pulse Oximetry capability allows the clinician to measure preand post-ductal saturations. The OxyCRG screen provides a simultaneous presentation of up tothree trends:– beat-to-beat heart rate (btbHR)– an oxygenation measurement trend (SpO2 or tcpO2)– compressed respiration wave. This customized display gives clinicians a convenient overview of theneonatal patient’s most important vital signs, helping them to identifysignificant events.Continuous OxyCRG recordings can be made at the bedside on theM1116B Recorder, and reports can be printed on locally or centrallyconnected printers. Neonatal Event Review (NER) is optimized for monitoring neonatalpatients. For each event, an episode of four minutes of data sampled four timesa second is stored, to help you keep a record of rapidly-changingcondition of neonatal patients. Combi-events correlate apnea eventswith bradycardia and/or desaturations. In Event Surveillance, in the NER group, you can run a Car SeatAssessment Record (CAR). This is a special period of eventsurveillance for neonates during a car seat test. During the CARperiod, a real-time SpO2 histogram is also generated with 1-secondsamples. Trended values can be viewed in the form of a histogram. The SpO2histograms can be trend histograms with 1-second samples.Ease of Use Screen layouts are easily adjustable, allowing flexible display ofmeasurement information. Previous/Next Screen function provides access to the ten mostrecently modified screens. Temperature, height, and weight can be configured either in metric orimperial Units. Pressure measurements can be displayed in kPa ormmHg. Gases can be displayed in kPa, mmHg. The Computer-Based Training supplied with each monitor providesa flexible, low-cost training in using the monitor, basic measurementsand Cardiac Output.6IntelliVue ApplicationsClinical Decision SupportClinicians are continuously drawing mental images from theirobservations of patients’ vital signs. The IntelliVue’s clinical decisionsupport applications offer this dynamic “minds eye view” directly onthe monitoring screen display.ProtocolWatchProtocolWatch allows clinicians to run clinical protocols that canmonitor developments in the patient’s condition. The SSC SepsisProtocol runs on the ProtocolWatch application and is used inscreening for severe sepsis and monitoring its treatment.ST MapST Map provides a graphical display that can help clinicians to recognizeST changes and their location in the heart more easily. ST Map collectsST values created from the frontal (limb leads) and horizontal (chestleads) plane into an integrated display. The maps are multi-axisportraits of the patient’s ST segments as measured with the ST/ARarrhythmia algorithm.Horizon DisplayHorizon trends provide clinicians with a graphical visualization tool thatallows the end user to detect at a glance the patients’ current clinicalstatus. By combining parameters together on the display, the clinician isassisted in their cognitive process of pattern recognition.Trends The trend database stores patient data from up to 16 measurementnumerics. The measurement information can be sampled every12 seconds, 1 minute, or 5 minutes, and stored for
