Pastor Dan’sWeekly MessageThere was a 5me not too long ago that I shied away from the light. Now, I didn’t literally stay indoors or avoid the sun. This figura5veshying away from the light was an internal ba le. One that I thinkwe all face throughout our lives in different ways. My ba le wasavoiding the light of God and not allowing that radiant light topierce my inward being. It is when we turn in on ourselves that sinworms its way into the core of who we are. It is slow and gradualthat some5mes we miss it. But God so desperately wants to beclose to us and set His light within us. It was when I startedunderstanding God’s immense love for me (and accep5ng it!) thatI was able to stop turning in on myself and focus on God’s deepabiding love. And God wants each of us to fully accept His light andlove in order to bring others to Him! On top of that, the line fromtoday’s second reading highlights that it is not by our doing: “For bygrace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from you;it is the gi of God” (emphasis added). This work of saving, it is agiC from God, too. All is giC! Rela5onships, food, vehicles, home, kids, spouse, money, recrea5on, work, etc. Stay in God’s light(accept His deep love for you!) and you’ll begin to see everythingin your life as a giC. LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEKGod’s messengers always seem to get mocked. They speak a truththat some folks do not want to hear. While on the one hand weadmire them, we also are quite happy keeping them at a distance.ACer all, they are not referring to me but someone else, aren’t they?We oCen wrongly conclude that because we may be moreavantͲgarde, contemporary, poli5cally sensi5ve, and untradi5onal,we are somehow more in the light than others. People tend toprefer darkness more than light, even the most spiritually sensi5veamong us. The light always carries with it the richness of God’smercy and compassion which see beyond ideologies and concepts torela5onships that cul5vate life, earthly and eternal. Every hand ofcompassion and mercy extended to a human being must alwayspoint back to God. The call always involves ordering our lives inaccord with our truth and essence of being. As God never forgets us,we must never forget God. Now is the 5me to take stock of ourinfidelity and return to the light, even though it is difficult to look at. LPi To God be the Glory, Kelsey Ͳ kdemarais@stpaulgenesee.net Did you know? Our parish website has a link to Fr. Dan's pasthomilies. You can go back to listen to Fr. Dan's message. Adult FormationChild and Family Ministry Spring is not yet here, the snow isn’t allFun Facts for Catholic Kids of ALL AgesExplain Jesus’ death in an age-appropriate way.You do not need to dwell on the gruesome details ofcrucifixion, which can upset and frighten youngerchildren, but you should introduce Jesus’ death.Emphasize the reasons for Jesus’ sacrifice that he gaveup his earthly life so that believers could have eternalsalva5on. †For preschoolers, s5ck to saying that Jesus died and rose fromthe dead for us. † For younger school kids, add in some more details about thedeath and resurrec5on. Note that it shows that death is not theend, but rather the beginning of eternal life. † Younger teens and beyond can be er handle the details of crucifixion and comprehend the symbolism of death and rebirth inrela5on to mankind’s salva5on. God bless Ͷ Amy Golden aldgolden@gmail.com melted, and the frost is coming out of theground making the edges of the driveway verymuddy. The once pure white snowy areas arepatchy and brown and not all that picturesque.I myself feel sort of muddy at this point in Lent. The pure inten5ons I had on Ash Wednesdayare not as well defined as I’d like. I knew Ineeded to get out of that muddy place andlook for some beauty. Walking along themucky road to my house last weekend, though, I came across this free form piece of frosty beauty thathad developed overnight due to the freeze/thaw cycle we are in. It reminded me that even in the mud, there can be goodness. At this point in Lent, when I’m not as ready for Easter as I’d like tobe, there is HOPE because of what Jesus has done for me, for ALLof us. So no ma er how mired in the mud I feel, I know Jesus isthere, I just have to look for Him.
