Not only canyou make all of your favorites, but with threebuilt-in condiment dispensers, you can makethem extra delicious! With the pull of a tab,sprinkles, chips and other toppings mix rightinto your frozen dessert as you fill up conesor bowls. Operation is fully automatic, so justpick a recipe from the ones we’ve included, putthe ingredients in the bowl, and turn the dial!BEFORE USINGFOR THE FIRST TIMEDO NOT immerse this product in water. Wipeit with a moist cloth. Wash the lid, freezerbowl, mixing arm, condiment containers,condiment chute and drip tray in warm soapywater to remove any dust or residue from themanufacturing and shipping process. DONOT clean any of the parts with abrasivecleaners or hard implements. DO NOTimmerse unit in water or put unit underrunning water. Clean with a damp cloth only.FREEZING TIME ANDBOWL PREPARATIONThe freezer bowl must be completely frozenbefore you begin your recipe. Before freezing,wash and dry the bowl. Wrap it in a plasticbag to prevent freezer burn. We recommendthat you place the freezer bowl in the back ofyour freezer where it is coldest. Be sure toplace the freezer bowl on a flat surface inits upright position for even freezing. Thelength of time needed to reach the frozenstate depends on how cold your freezer is.For the most convenient frozen desserts,leave your freezer bowl in the freezerat all times. You can take it out any time forimmediate use. In general, freezing timeshould be a minimum of 12 hours. Todetermine whether the bowl is completelyfrozen, shake it. If you do not hear liquidmoving, the cooling liquid is frozen.Reminder: Your freezer should be set to 0 Fto ensure proper freezing of all foods.3

ASSEMBLY1. Insert the condiment containers into theindent on the top side of the ICE-45 sothat they are firmly in place. Thecondiment container with the roundededge should be inserted into the frontspace.8. Put the lid with mixing arm attached overthe freezer bowl and push down until itclicks securely in place. To remove lid,push in and lift the two side tabs.2. Place the small narrow cover over thecondiment containers.3. Attach the dispenser with handle byinserting the tab into the slot under thedispensing area, then push the dispenserupwards until it locks into place. (Makesure the handle is in the upright position.)4. Slide the condiment chute into thespace provided under the condimentcontainers. Be sure to slide it all the wayin until it stops.MAKING SOFT SERVEICE CREAM ANDFROZEN DESSERTS1. Fill the condiment containers with thedesired mix-ins. Place small mix-inssuch as sprinkles in the front condimentcontainer with the curved edge. Placelarge mix-ins such as mini M&M s ormini chocolate morsels in the rectangularcondiment containers.NOTE: Do not place liquid condimentsin the condiment containers.2. Use Cuisinart’s recipes from the pagesthat follow. Do not fill the freezer bowlhigher than ½" from the top, as theingredients will increase in volume duringthe freezing process. For best results,prepare ingredients in a container fromwhich it is easy to pour.3. Remove the freezer bowl from the freezer.(Remove plastic bag if you have wrappedfreezer bowl.) Lift the lid and place freezerbowl inside the base.5. Place the drip tray on the base underthe dispenser.6. Push the mixing arm into the hole on thebottom of the lid.NOTE: Bowl will begin to defrost quicklyonce it has been removed from freezer.Use it immediately after removing fromfreezer.7. Insert the freezer bowl. Make sure that itis securely in place.4. Push the mixing arm into the hole on thebottom of the lid.5. Place lid with mixing arm on base andpush down until it locks in place.5

6. Turn the power dial to the ON position.Mixing arm will begin to turn.7. Add ingredients to the freezer bowl bypouring them through the opening inthe lid.8. Soft ice cream will be finished in as littleas 20 minutes. The time will depend onthe recipe and volume of the dessertyou are making. If ingredients arerefrigerated, ice cream making time willbe reduced.NOTE: You must watch the ice cream todetermine when to dispense. If you waittoo long, ice cream may get too thick todispense. If this happens, remove thebowl, scoop out and enjoy the ice cream.9. Hold an ice cream cone or bowl oneinch below the ice cream chute and pulldown the handle to dispense the soft icecream. Turn cup or bowl as you dispenseto swirl ice cream.10. Pull out one, two or all three condimentdispensing levers to add the mix-insof your choice into your soft ice creamor dessert. To stop the flow of mix-ins,push in the dispensing levers.11. When finished filling the cone or bowl,push the handle back up to stop theflow of ice cream.NOTES: Some liquid may initially comeout of the dispensing bracket when thehandle is first pulled down. Use a cup tocollect this liquid, then proceed withfilling the first bowl or cone.Do not store frozen desserts in thefreezer bowl. Desserts will stick tothe side of the freezer bowl and maydamage the bowl. Store only in anairtight container.The ice cream will lose its softconsistency and harden after it isstored in the freezer.RECOMMENDED MIX-INSThese items can be found in most wellstocked grocery stores and specialtygrocery/gourmet food stores.6The location of the items will depend uponthe individual store (for example, some itemswill be found near the ice cream and icecream cones while others may be found inthe baking section).Mini M&M s*Mini chocolate morsels*Confetti sprinklesChocolate sprinklesCaramel sprinklesPraline crunchCritter crunch or other decorativecrunch bitsAlmond brickle bits/chips*NOTE: Do not use full sized M&M s orchocolate morsels, they are too large todispense. Use the mix-in gauge to make suremix-ins are not too large. If they do not fitthrough the hole in the gauge, then they willclog the unit.SAFETY FEATUREThe Cuisinart Mix It In Soft Serve IceCream Maker is equipped with a safetyfeature that automatically stops the unit if themotor overheats. This may occur if thedessert is extremely thick or if the unit hasbeen running for an excessively long periodof time, or if added condiments are too large.If ice cream is too thick to dispense, removethe bowl and eat the ice cream.DISASSEMBLINGFOR CLEANING1. Remove the lid and disconnect the mixingpaddle.2. Lift the freezer bowl up and out of thebase.3. Remove the condiment chute by pullingit toward you.4. Remove the dispensing bracket withhandle by pushing the button located onthe center of the face of the dispenserdown and pulling it down and outtowards you.

TROUBLESHOOTINGProblemSolutionIce cream isnot ready inrecommendedtime.Check recipe to make surethat the ingredients arecorrect. Keep the freezerbowl in the freezer for alonger amount of timebefore making ice cream.Do not let freezer bowl sitoutside of the freezer formore than 5 minutes beforemaking ice cream. Makesure your freezer is set to0 F.Ice cream isnot dispensing.The ice cream may be toothick. Check the processingtime. Check recipe to makesure that the ingredients arecorrect. Remove the bowl,scoop out and eat the icecream.Motor stalls.The ice cream may betoo thick. Check theprocessing time. Turn office cream maker. Cleanice cream maker and putfreezer bowl in the freezer.Make a new batch oncethe bowl is frozen for therecommended amount oftime.CLEANING1. Unplug your Cuisinart Mix It In SoftServe Ice Cream Maker beforecleaning.2. Base: Wipe with a damp cloth and dry.Never use abrasives or immersein water.3. Freezer Bowl and Lid: Wash by hand inwarm soapy water and dry thoroughly.DO NOT PUT IN THE DISHWASHER.DO NOT CLEAN WITH ABRASIVECLEANSERS OR IMPLEMENTS.4. Handle with Dispensing Bracket: Washthoroughly by hand in warm soapy water.Be sure to eliminate all ice cream residueby cleaning the dispensing while it isopened (with the handle pushed down)and closed (with handle up).5. Mixing Arm, Condiment Containers,Condiment Chute and Drip Tray: Washby hand in warm soapy water and drythoroughly. These parts are also top rackdishwasher-safe. Be careful not toremove the small rubber pads that arelocated inside the condiment containerswhen cleaning. The rubber pads are apart of the condiment containers and arenot removable.STORAGEMix-ins are notdispensing.Check the condiment chuteto make sure that mix-insare not stuck. Clean anddry the chute. Check mixins to make sure that theyare not melting. Clean anddry condiment dispensers.Check for jammed mix-ins.Mix-ins may be too large.DO NOT put freezer bowl in freezer if bowl iswet. DO NOT store lid, mixing arm, base, driptray or condiment containers in the freezer.You may store the freezer bowl in the freezer,in its upright position, for convenient,immediate use. Before freezing, wrap thebowl in a plastic bag to prevent freezer burn.Do not store frozen desserts in the freezerbowl. Transfer desserts to an airtightcontainer for longer storage in the freezer.The mixing armis not turning.Check to make sure thereis no ice in the freezer bowl.Check to see if unit is on.The ice cream may be toothick.When filled condiment containers are not inuse, store in a cool, dark place. Emptycontainers if not used once a week. Startwith fresh mix-ins so they don’t spoil.NOTE: The ice cream will lose its softconsistency and harden after it is stored inthe freezer7
