About UniversityBanaras Hindu University is an internationally reputed temple of learning, situated inthe holy city of Varanasi. This Creative and innovative university was founded bythe great nationalist leader, Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, in 1916 withcooperation of great personalities like Dr Annie Besant, who viewed it as theUniversity of India. Banaras Hindu University was created under the Parliamentarylegislation - B.H.U. Act 1915.Banaras Hindu University founded by Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviyajiin 1916 is one of the most prestigious Central Universities in the country. TheUniversity was conceived as a residential University, keeping in view its objective ofcomplete character development and thorough mentoring of students. About Faculty of LawThe Law School is one of the earliest Faculties established in the Banaras HinduUniversity. Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, the founder of thisuniversity, served for many years as Dean of Law School. The legal luminaries like SirRas Behari Ghosh and Sir Tej Bahadur Sapru, were the earlier Deans as well.The Law School has been pioneer in introducing full time three year LL.B course ofstudies and two year full time LL.M. programme. It has taken a lead and perhapsthe only Law School in India in introducing two years full time special courses ofLL.M. in Human Rights and Duties Educations. The Banaras Law School was one ofthe six universities in India to start 'Clinical Legal Services'. The model developed byLaw School has been judged as the best model by Hon’ble Mr. Justice P. N.Bhagwati, former Chief Justice of India.Dharmo Vishwasya Jagatah Pratistha ( Dharma sustains the whole universe ) is themotto of Law School. Law School has developed a holistic approach towardsunderstanding law and justice from a multi-disciplinary perspective. It offers variousacademic programmes to generate especially skilled global legal professionals.Law School offers different and diverse courses in the field of law and justice.Courses like B.A. LL.B. They have secured positions innational moot courts and made us proud.Faculty of Law serves as a reservoir ofintellectual minds learning, exploring andresearching a plethora of interdisciplinarysubjects. The closely knit departments of theUniversity facilitate the exclusive exchange ofideas, thoughts and consultations amongstudents, research scholars, and facultymembers across the academic units of the BHUfamily, an advantage no other university canboast of. The integrated working of theuniversity enables students to join (programsthat equip them for the like Foreign Languages,courses at the Faculty of Visual Arts, Facultyof Performing Arts concurrently. SPORTS AND RECREATIONSeveral play grounds, stadia, Indoor stadia,Amphitheatre, Tennis courts, Squash courts,Volleyball courts, Basket ball courts, swimmingpool, mountaineering club, Flying club, etc.are there to cater to the sportspersons needs.The university facilitates its students with ablecoaches and practice space to compete atthe various levels of tournaments. LIBRARYThe Central Library is the ultimate heaven, forany person in search of knowledge, with anunimaginable 1.5 million books, numerousjournals, magazines, weeklies, newspapers indifferent languages; and to add to that, 115departmental libraries. The University alsoprovides the facility of Cyber Library within thecampus. Library also provides access to largeset of online national and foreign resources. TOURIST ATTRACTIONSBHU is a smaller world with all cultures,nationalities, and diversities coming together tocreate the wealth of knowledge. HOSTELSThe Law school provides separate hostelfacilities to boys and girls. There are threehostels for boys namely Dr. Bhagwan DasHostel, Chanakya Hostel and Dr. B R AmbedkarHostel. Girls are accommodated in TriveniHostel which is an amalgamation of 6 hostels,providing accommodation to girls of otherfaculties as well. The university is committed tozero tolerance to ragging inside the campus. HEALTH CAREThere are health centres for students and staff members located all across theCampus providing health care services 24X7. The S.S. Hospital in the University isequipped with the latest technology and modern treatment facilities. These areavailable for free(concessional rates) to the students, scholars and staffmembers. CULTURAL FESTS'Srijan' is annual cultural festival of Law SchoolBHU. Students showcase their talents andwinners of all events in 'Srijan' represent thefaculty at university level cultural festival called'Spandan'. Both the festivals are celebratedwith enthusiasm. Judges witness amazingtalents every year. OTHER SERVICESProctorial services maintaining the law and order within the campus plays vital rolein controlling social menace like ragging, Hostels with wifi, Transportation forstudents, 24 hour electric and power supply, over 6 branches of nationalized Banks,ATMs, 3 Post Offices, Telephone exchange, Railway Reservation Centre, and a lotof other facilities provided exclusively for Staff and Students.16

Where students of former course are first since its introduction, they alwaysstood up to the challenges of a first batch. This has played a monumental role inthe development of the law school. The class is a healthy mix of students hailingfrom various parts of India, which adds value to the learning experience that thelaw school provides. Being the first batch the students have had the opportunity tobecome a mentor to the juniors. In addition to this they have laid a strongfoundation in terms of their academics. personality and skills for upcoming batchesto learn and behold. The class has displayed a voracious zeal for co-curricularactivities such as Moot Court Competitions, Debates, Model United Nations andparticipated in National and International Events.17
