What is Web BSI?What is Web BSI?Web BSI consists of a set of standard web pages and ActiveX controls which may be used toconfigure a newly installed ControlWave series process automation controller, or to modifycertain configuration parameters in an existing ControlWave unit. Some web page functions arealso supported for Network 3000-series controllers. The key components of the Web BSI, from a user's point of view are: Standard Set of Web Pages - A series of data collection web pages, compatible withMicrosoft Internet Explorer (Version 5.0 or newer), are provided to view data from arrays, archives, audit files, and lists. Some of the standard web pages may be used with bothNetwork 3000 and ControlWave series controllers, others will function with only one productseries.NOTE: Separate sets of web pages are also available for configuration/calibration operationsfor particular ControlWave or TeleFlow products. For information on these, please consultthe help files in those web pages. The easiest way to access the web pages is through LocalView or NetView, after you haveadded the controller to the OpenBSI network. The Web BSI standard set of web pages (HTML) are stored on the OpenBSI workstation. ActiveX Controls for use in User-Created Web Pages - In addition to this standard set ofweb pages, users can create their own web pages. To support the user-created web pages, aseries of ActiveX controls specific to ControlWave and Network 3000 controllers areprovided for web page developers. User-created web pages are stored on the OpenBSIWorkstation. LocalView - Allows local communication with a controller. Also allows configurationparameters to be set. See Chapter 5 of the the OpenBSI Utilities Manual (document# D5081)for details.1Web BSI Manual

Setting up the Web BSI SoftwareSetting up the Web BSI SoftwareInstalling the Web BSI software on your PCWeb BSI is automatically included when you install either the OpenBSI Network Edition, or theOpenBSI Local Edition. See Chapter 2 of the OpenBSI Utilities Manual (document# D5081) fordetails.IMPORTANTThe Web BSI software should only be run on Windows 2008 Server, Windows 7Professional, or Windows 10. Users are warned NOT to attempt to run this softwareunder Windows 95, because of unpredictable results. There is no longer supportfor Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, or Windows XP Professional.Specifying the Location of Your Web BrowserIf the path of your web browser is other than the default (\Program Files\Internet Explorer\) youwill need to use a text editor to edit the WEB BROWSER PATH parameter in your NDF file toreflect the web browser’s location.WEB BROWSER PATH C:\Program Files\Internet ExplorerSpecifying the Startup Web Page For A ControllerDuring OpenBSI system configuration, you must specify astartup HTML web page for each controller. This can be donein the RTU Wizard of NetView when the controller is initiallyadded to the network, or from the RTU Properties dialog box, after it is already in the network. To access the RTU Properties dialog box, right click on theicon for the controller, and choose “Properties” from thepop-up menu. The startup web page resides on the PC workstation, so a full path and filename must beentered in the “Startup” field of the RTU Properties dialog box.If you would like access to the standard web page set, specify web bsi.htm as the startuppage. This web page is referred to as the Main Menu, and contains links to all of thestandard web pages.Web BSI Manual2

Setting up the Web BSI SoftwareSpecify the complete path and filename on the PC, of thestartup web page here. (Use the “Browse” push button tolocate the web page, if desired.)Other Notes About Using Web Pages For optimum results, screen resolution should be set to 1024 x 768 when using our webpages. You can use the tab key to move between fields on web pages. (OpenBSI 5.8 and newer.) If you need to enter a value in a field on a web page, you must press the [Enter] key to savethe value. You can use the [Esc] key to leave the field unchanged. If you need make a selection from a drop-down menu (combo box), you must press the[Enter] key to save the value, unless you have OpenBSI 5.8 Service Pack 1 or newer inwhich case your selection is sent to the RTU automatically. You can have multiple web pages open simultaneously, for example, to look at differenttypes of data from the same RTU. To do this, just open a new instance of Internet Explorer(or open a new window in IE using the File New command). Note, however, that if youterminate one instance (or window) communicating with a particular RTU, you will3Web BSI Manual

Setting up the Web BSI Softwareterminate all instances or windows communicating with that same RTU. If your ControlWave-series controller is part of a BSAP network, it will be treated as aBSAP controller; and only those configuration facilities and features available for a BSAPcontroller will be available. This will prevent web page configuration of Audit/Archive andcertain security features.NetView software must be registered in order to be used beyond the 60 day evaluationperiod. See Chapter 2 of the OpenBSI Utilities Manual (document# D5081) for moreinformation on the registration process. The standard set of web pages for Web BSI are stored in the directory:\openbsi installation path\WebPageswhere openbsi installation path is whatever directory you chose for the installation ofOpenBSI data files. The default is \ProgramData\Bristol\OpenBSI\.Other folders of web pages are also available for various other ControlWave or TeleFlowproducts.Web BSI Manual4

Calling up Web BSI PagesWeb BSI PagesThere are two different methods for calling up the Web BSI web pages:IMPORTANTIf this is the first time you are calling up the Web BSI web pages, you will need to usethe Node Locator page, described later in this manual, to identify the nodes with whichyou want to communicate. After that, you should not need to use it again, unless youare communicating with different nodes, or if your network configuration has changed.IMPORTANTYou must log in with Administrative privileges in order to use certain configurationweb pages, in particular the Node Locator.Method 1With NetView or LocalView running, click as follows:Start Programs OpenBSI Tools Web Page Access Standard PagesMethod 2In order to call up the web page(s) associated witha particular controller, right click on the icon forthe controller in the OpenBSI NetView tree, andchoose RTU WebPage Access from the pop-upmenu. Internet Explorer will be started, andwhichever startup web page associated with thecontroller will be displayed.5Web BSI Manual

The category buttons are named Security, Statistics, SignalData, and Historical Data.A “Node Name” field displays the name of the current controller from which data is beingviewed on the web page.Web BSI Manual6

ALARM SUMMARY Web PageAlarm Summary Web PageThe Alarm Summary Web Page allows you to view all current alarm messages received from acontroller (or multiple controllers) in the network.1To access the Alarm Summary web page, click on the "Signal Data" category button, thenchoose the "Alarm Summary" drop-down menu selection.Right-click onDate/time entryPop-up menu The most recent alarms appear at the top of the window; older alarms are automaticallymoved towards the bottom. (NOTE: This does not apply to certain columns, such as the value or limit.)1The initial release of the Alarm Summary Control in Version 5.3 only supported alarms from RTUscommunicating via BSAP. Beginning with OpenBSI 5.4, alarms from RTUs communicating via IP are alsosupported, provided the RTU firmware is 4.40 or newer.7Web BSI Manual

ALARM SUMMARY Web Page Optionally, alarms can also be saved in a log file, for viewing at a later time. This can beconfigured from the ‘Logging’ page of the Alarm Properties dialog box. If you want to view alarms from more than one controller in the Alarm Summary, you mustbe logged onto each of these controllers, prior to opening the Alarm Summary web page.(This could be accomplished via the Sign On control, or via a login script in your web pagewhich uses the Sign On Control).
