Next Year’s Juniors - Class of 2021Course Request Process for the 2019-2020 School YearPhase 1Distribution of Course Request MaterialsGrade level meetings will be held to distribute these materials and to review the course request process.Phase 2Course Request Preparation at HomeUpon receipt of these materials, students will work at home with parents/guardians to courses of interest using the CourseRequest Worksheet (in this packet) for the 2019-2020 School Year. Students should request an appointment with acounselor for assistance as needed. Course descriptions are available on the SHS web page under Academics - Scheduling- Course Descriptions.Your current LA, SS, SCI, MA and WL teachers are in the process of completing recommendations for Core Requirementsand or additional courses for next year. They have been instructed to communicate these recommendations to students byMarch 4, 2019.Phase 3Course Request Entry in the LMCBeginning on March 5th students should be prepared to report to the LMC, or another specified location, throughoutthe course of the day to complete course request entry using the HAC site. Students need to bring all of their courserequest materials with them. Counselors will assist students in entering their course requests and address any issues orspecial requests at that time.Students need to have completed each part of the course request worksheet (contained within this packet) in advanceso that this process goes smoothly and quickly.Parents can also view and edit requests on HAC through March 20th.Phase 4Collection of Waiver Forms and Course Request VerificationWaiver forms need to be returned to the Guidance Office by March 18th so all necessary changes to course requests canbe made. Counselors will review all requests to ensure that all required courses have been entered, ample additionalcourses have been added, and make any necessary changes.Phase 5Course Request Entry at Home – Completion by March 22ndParents/guardians and students should review all requests on-line and make or communicate any necessary changes tocounselors no later than March 20th. Course requests will be finalized by March 22nd.
