Did you haveother interesting workexperiences before you foundyour way to CBP?Moore: I worked at McDonald’s asa teenager, and prior to joining thegovernment, I worked for UnitedParcel Service and served in theUnited States Naval Reserves [nowthe United States Navy Reserve]. Forthose who know me, my career pathprovides some insight on my passionfor work and exploring new opportunities. My entire professional careerhas allowed me to challenge myselfto be better and do better. I havealways been fascinated with exploringnew approaches to make things, orprocesses, more efficient and effective. So CBP has truly been a good fit,but it started with McDonald’s withwatching those VHS tapes on my10-minute breaks on how everythingfits perfectly, from how to fold apaper bag to keep food warm up to10 minutes to UPS and mapping outmy service route in order to make 20customer visits in eight hours.Q: In what ways do you see thework at CBP connecting to oureveryday lives?Moore: When I go grocery shoppingand I see the mounds of fruits andvegetables on display, when I’m atthe airport and made it from pointA to point B. I love the work we doto protect the homeland and, best Augustine Moore.of all, the partnerships we havewith the community. FAQWG hasbeen an incredible anchor on how toconduct business and connect withthe community. It also takes a goodteam. My colleagues and team fromWashington Dulles, to Baltimore, toPhiladelphia, believe in teamwork. Ifyou don’t connect with your team, you will surely stumble.Q: What is your new job andwhat are the responsibilities?Moore: I’m currently detailed tothe Office of International Affairs inWashington, D.C. It’s giving me anopportunity to serve the agency in adifferent capacity.Q: What will you miss aboutthe Port of Baltimore?Moore: Baltimore was my secondhome. I will miss the uniqueconnection I had with my CBPfamily, the camaraderie, the support, the unwavering team spirit. FromBaltimore, Philadelphia to WashingtonDulles, from airport to seaport, it allmattered.
