PRESIDENT’S COLUMNA lot of our members have just returned from ouryearly deer hunting trips and have spent some qualitytime up north. Either in thewoods actually hunting or justenjoying the time off. Justwatching the wildlife walk, crawl or fly by, or taking a nicenap in your blind or tree stand. It was also a good time to catchup with relatives & old friends, and hopefully meet some newones. I have spoken to anumber of people from the club& at work, have seen thepictures, and heard the stories of their trips &trophies. So far not one person, whether they got abig buck or saw nothing while hunting, said theydidn’t have a great time - I sure did.If you were successful in your fall hunt, pleasedonate some of your take to the club for our WildGame Dinner that is coming up. We had a great timeonce again on our pheasant hunt that Bubba andTerry put on. What a perfect day that was and onceagain many birds were put in the freezer for our WildGame Dinner. It is also election time around the club again.Although it got off to a rocky start I know that we didthe right thing by fixing it. Even though it wasspouses night, everyone took their time and we gotthrough it. I thank everyone for there honest effort tosort it out. Now I hope everyone stops by the cluband picks up your ballots. Please read theinstructions carefully so that no ballots have to be setaside because they were not filled out correctly. Iwould also like to thank everyone that is running foroffice at the club. It should be a labor of love to beable to serve this great club, and leave it better off forthe next group to serve our club.MULTI-LAKER DEADLINEDeadline for articles in the January 2012 Multi-Laker Magazineis Wednesday, December 21st, 2011.NOTE: All copy must be electronically submitted and approved by the Editor.THE MULTI-LAKER(USPS) 350-060Published Monthly by theMulti-Lakes Conservation AssociationOffice Fax – (248) 363-8092Club Manager – Barry AndersonOffice Manager – Terry MartinCLUBHOUSE – (248) 363-9109Skeet, Trap & Sporting Clays Building – (248) 363-8811Indoor Range House – (248) 360-3965Member Michigan United Conservation ClubsMichigan Coalition for Responsible Gun OwnersPeriodicals Postage Paid at Walled Lake, MI 48390www.multilakes.comSubscription Rates:Members - 12.00 of the members Annual Dues is paidas a year’s subscription to The Multi-LakerNon-members - 15.00 per year payable in advance.2011 OFFICERSPRESIDENT . . Officer’s Corners Vice President Did everyone have a successful DeerHunt? I did. Even though I did not shoot adeer as of this writing, it still was a very goodyear. The camp that I returned to after a 14year absence, had a 75% success rate - 9 deer taken and12 hunters. Not bad.The voting deadline for this year’s club election is,meeting night December 21st at the intermission. Pleasevote, your club depends on everyone’s participation. This years Christmas party for the kids is afterCountry Breakfast on December 11th beginning at 1:00in the afternoon, and lasting until all the kids presenthave a chance to see Santa. At the same time in Range House 2 is the annualChristmas craft show. Thanks to Lyn Lash for herefforts to make the show a reality. Membership Secretary As I reported last month it appears thatmembership will increase for 2011, which inthis economy is pretty impressive. A lot ofclubs have seen their membership decreaseover the past two years, but with your help we havebeen able to keep the membership numbers positive. We have the last New Member Meeting planned forDecember 17th. The 4 New Member Meetings that wenow hold have increased the retention of applicants.Multi-Lakes can continue to grow membership ifeveryone sponsors at least one new member every year.Switching topics, for those members that are eligibleto vote in the annual election for Officers and Directorsplease take the time to fill out a ballot and have yourvoice be heard. These positions are very important toyou in that the people that are elected help run MultiLakes and represent you.Thank you to everyone that has helped over the lastyear to make my job here a little easier, and HAPPYHOLIDAYS! to all.See you around the Club! Charley StevensThanks for making 2011 a better year than 2010, Mark Geiger Recording Secretary Treasurer To the outgoing Board, thanks for yourefforts this past year and the help extendedto me during the last six months that I'vebeen filling in as Recording Secretary.Hope everyone had a great huntingseason up to this point, I know it’s notover for some of us yet.I am sure by now most of you haveheard that the nominating process got kind ofmessed up this year. First this is not to pass blameon anyone. I think our Board and Membership dida fine job getting it all worked out, and was fair toall involved. Now it’s up to us to get to the Club,pick-up a ballot, and vote. If the past holds true, less than 30% of us will vote - Pretty sad if youthink about it. That means the other 70% couldpick and elect their own Board and Officers. Wehave all heard of the silent majority well this is nottheir time. It’s our time to stand up and becounted and vote our choice. Last year there was atie for vice-president and we had to do a coin flip.So don’t think your vote does not count. They allcount. On to happy things; The very best to all for theChristmas Season and the coming New Year !!!Good Luck to the new Officers and Board, thanks forrunning for office and please cast your votes; wheneverneeded, based on intellect not emotion. Hunt Photos Hi my name is Paige Myers from West Bloomfield.I am the daughter of member Tim Myers #1670,and I am 13 years old. I went up north hunting for thejunior hunt and I had a great opportunity to get a huge10 point buck. There was only 15 minutes left of daylight on the last day. As soon as I got a clear shot athim at 100 yards I shot, and he ran about 75 yards anddied. I got my 10 point up in Vanderbilt, MI on mygreat grandpa’s property with a .22-250 rifle.Letters to the Editor, and Hunt Photos should be e-mailed toD Leonard@multilakes.comPrints and hand written letters can be dropped in my box at the club.Andcaught oncamera, aboutmidnighton Nov. 9Wow. I was not nearly as lucky as Paige, but I’m still very happy with this nice littlesix point. It was right at the end ofshooting time November 16th on BiosBlanc Island. I had several doe around meand suddenly they all ran off. I figured thatwas it for the day, but just then another doe came trotting in & stopped with its head in front of a birchtree – that’s when I could see that “doe” has horns! I moved the sights to just behind the shoulder &squeezed. As usual the buck didn’t get to take another step after meeting with the 200 grain bulletfrom my old lever action Marlin chambered in .35 Remington.
