Technical Data 201-20Single-phase pad-mounted distribution transformersEffective March 2014Protection optionsQuality control Bay-O-Net expulsion fuse with Flapper valve Bay-O-Net and partial range current-limiting fuses Weak link fuse Weak link and partial range current-limiting fuses Secondary breaker with weak link1 MagneX interrupter with isolation link1 MagneX interrupter with partial range current-limiting fuse1 Under-oil high-voltage MOV arrester1 Low-voltage distribution-class MOV arrester, internally orexternally mounted Vacuum Fault Interrupter (VFI) for electronic breaker trip control21 Not available with the Ranch Runner.2 Only available with ANSI and/or IEEE Type -2 front plate configurations.Single-phase VFI transformerThe VFI transformer combines a conventional Eaton’s CooperPower Systems distribution transformer with the proven VacuumFault Interrupter (VFI). This combination provides both voltagetransformation and overcurrent protection in one space-saving,money-saving package. The single-phase pad-mounted VFI transformer with loop protectionis designed to protect the loop or downstream section of a feeder, and provide proper coordination with upstream and downstreamprotective devices. In this configuration, when a fault occursdownstream, the VFI trips and isolates the fault, leaving thetransformer load uninterrupted. The VFI breaker has an interrupting rating that far exceeds standardriser pole fuses, enabling better fault clearing coordination andthereby minimizing outage area. Because it is resettable, faultlocating is simplified and outage time is reduced.Single-phase pad-mounted distribution transformers manufacturedby Eaton’s Cooper Power Systems provide outstanding performance. All transformers from Eaton’s Cooper Power Systems pass routinetests as prescribed per ANSI and IEEE prior to shipment.MaxiShrub ANSI and IEEE Type-1, Shrubline ANSI and IEEE Type-2 and Ranch Runner designs are in full compliance with IEEEStd C57.12.28 -2005 standard security requirements.Corrosion resistance is optimized with the utilization of a superiorcoating system, combined with the strategic use of stainless steelmaterial, and a tank designed to reduce the retention of water. Ourcoating systems exceed IEEE Std C57.12.28 -2005 and IEEE StdC57.12.29 -2005 standards. Stainless steel components includedoor hinge pins and barrels, parking stands, mounting studs, andrecessed lifting provisions.Door and tank covers are permanently domed to eliminate retentionof water. All external parts are full-welded to eliminate corrosioncaused by moisture entrapment. Bumper pads on doors reduceshipping damage. Lifting provisions are recessed to reduce damageduring handling. The Quality System at Eaton’s Cooper Power Systems TransformerProducts is ISO 9001 certified.Fluid optionsTransformers can be filled with standard electrical grade mineralinsulating oil, Envirotemp FR3 fluid, or other dielectric coolants. For fire-sensitive locations, Envirotemp FR3 fluid, a fire resistantnatural ester-based fluid is recommended. Envirotemp FR3 fluidalso offers the benefits of a soy oil-based dielectric coolant that issustainable and has unique environmental and material properties inaddition to increased fire safety over conventional mineral oil.Check with Eaton’s Cooper Power Systems for the availability ofother dielectric coolants in single-phase, pad-mounted transformers.Poly-padEaton’s Cooper Power Systems offers a poly-pad that is usablewith most transformers conforming to ANSI C57.12.25-1990standard (Type-1 or Type-2). This polymer pad enables transformersto be shipped and installed on the same pad. Use of the poly-padcan eliminate the purchasing, inventory, and administrative costsassociated with conventional concrete, polymer or fiberglasspads. Installation costs can also be significantly reduced since thetransformer is pre-mounted to its pad. These forkliftable units can betransported damage free during shipping and handling.Eaton1000 Eaton BoulevardCleveland, OH 44122United StatesEaton.comEaton’s Cooper Power Systems Business2300 Badger DriveWaukesha, WI 53188United StatesCooperpower.com 2014 EatonAll Rights ReservedPrinted in USAPublication No. 201-20March 2014201-20-4Eaton, Cooper Power Systems, MagneX,Ranch Runner, Shrubline, and MaxiShrub arevaluable trademarks of Eaton in the U.S. andother countries. Technical Data 201-60Effective March 2014Supersedes August 2012PEAK single-phase pad-mounteddistribution transformersGeneralPEAK transformers from Eaton’s Cooper PowerSystems are a class of transformer technologiesthat are designed to improve performance interms of kVA rating, compact dimensions, lighterweight, safety, and sustainability. Conventionaltransformers operate at 65 C for the AverageWinding Rise (AWR) at full load. PEAKtransformers are currently available with ratings upto 75 C AWR.PEAK transformers are ANSI compliant, availablewith all current conventional transformer optionsand are backed by Eaton’s Cooper Power Systemsquality control assurances. They are offered ineither 65/75 C slash rated or 75 C rise ratedconfigurations. A 65/75 C rated PEAK transformeris comparable in size to a conventional transformerbut has nameplated overload capability. A 75 Crise rated PEAK transformer is smaller in sizebut delivers the same kVA as its conventionalcounterpart. All PEAK transformers use Envirotemp FR3 dielectric fluid as their cooling fluid. Envirotemp FR3 has a higher flash point than conventionaltransformer fluids which increases PEAKtransformer’s fire protection. Envirotemp FR3 fluid increases the life span of the core andfluid insulation to a point where the overall lifeexpectancy of PEAK transformers is significantlyincreased. Envirotemp FR3 fluid is also agreen product that has nearly neutral carbonfootprint.PEAK transformers are available in Shrubline ,MaxiShrub , and Ranch Runner styles. All ofthese distribution transformers are filled withEnvirotemp FR3 fluid, self-cooled, available inloop or radial feed, and are dead-front. They areavailable in standard ratings and configurations orcan be customized to meet specific needs.Transformers shown above (left to right) includethe PEAK shrubline, PEAK MaxiShrub and PEAKRanch Runner style transformers.201-60-1
