LEONARDO DA VINCI: M A ST E R P I E C E S & F LY I N G M AC H I N E SThe exhibition 1/2The decision to show a selection of artworks by LeonardoDa Vinci was made in order to introduce the visitor of thisexhibition to Leonardo’s world with his variety of interestsand great ability to represent them through drawing.The consistent use of hand-drawn sketches applied to allhis research (anatomy, mathematics, nature andtechnology), the experimentation with innovativepainting techniques and the attention to detail have madeLeonardo the definitive protagonist of the golden agecalled the Renaissance.The dialogue between these masterpieces has been madepossible using the DAW – Digital Art Work – technique bywhich digital replicas are produced in a limited serie andthen authenticated, numbered, and certified in 1:1 scale,identical to the originals.4

LEONARDO DA VINCI: M A ST E R P I E C E S & F LY I N G M AC H I N E SThe exhibition 2/2In addition to some of the Leonardo’smost popular masterpieces, the focus ofthis selection is on the flying machines.Leonardo’s desire to reproduce the flightof birds brought the genius to imaginethe first flying tools in history, likeornithopters, fixed-wing gliders,rotorcraft and parachutes. His journey inimitating the Nature was only at thebeginning This selection includes artworks from the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana and theGalleria Nazionale di Parma.The focus of this exhibition is on flying machines, but it is entirely customizable since Cinello owns the rights tomake DAWs of all the ‘Atlanticus Codex’ by Leonardo. Mechanics, mathematics, astronomy, geography andanatomy are only some of the subjects analyzed in the drawings by the Renaissance master.5
