Dear Parishioners and Visitors to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish-Shrine,You may have recently seen a strange man roaming around our Parish.Well, that strange man is me! My name is Ed Kennedy and I am a seminarian forour diocese. I have been assigned to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish-Shrine for thisacademic year. This year, called a Pastoral Year, is to help seminarians to gain morehands-on experience prior to ordination. It allows seminarians to “get their feetwet,” if you will, before starting Third Theology.I was very excited to get the news that I would be spending my Pastoral Yearat Our Lady of Guadalupe. Last summer, I had the opportunity to live inCuernavaca, Mexico for two months and was privileged to visit the Basilica of OurLady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. It seemed almost providential that I should beassigned to our Diocese’s very own Shrine to Our Lady. Please allow me to tell you a quick background. I am from Ventnor and I amthe youngest of three boys. I was raised in a large extended Irish family, my mom isone of ten! My home parish is St. Nicholas of Tolentine in Atlantic City and I wasput to work in the Church when I was very young. I’ve been an altar server andlector since grade school and have always been involved with the Church in variousroles and ministries. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Seton Hall Universitywhere I attended The College Seminary, St. Andrew’s Hall and in May completedSecond Theology at St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore, where I attend majorseminary.I very much look forward to becoming a part of the parish and getting toknow the parish family here at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Please pray for me as Ibegin this next leg of my formation and know that you are all in my daily prayers.God bless,Ed

News and NotesProve it, God .and He did!As a lifelong Catholic, wife, and mother of three, PattySchneier struggled with theChurch's teaching on contraception – as many men andwomen do today. Herdiscovery of Blessed JohnPaul II's Theology of the Body revealed to her thefullness of God's plan for sex and marriage, and ledto a dramatic renewal of her marriage and her faith.Patty now speaks around the country about the challenges she faced on her amazing journey.Presented by:Lighthouse Catholic Mediawww.lighthousecatholicmedia.orgMaryann Chezik, parish officeOur Lady of Guadalupe ParishChildren’s ChoirWednesday, September 18, 2013 at 5:00 p.m.St. Luke Church(To sign up, please call the parish office)Memorial Paver Campaign going strong! One of the special features of the new shrine photo on the cover ofthe Parish Bulletin is that the “beads” can be seen on the Way of theRosary around Our Lady. How can we renounce all our possessions? We need them to live. However, what we mustrenounce is the belief that they belong to us.Everything that we have belong to God alone. All ofour resources are entrusted to us not only for ourown use, but also so that we can help others. Oncewe renounce the idea that we possess or are entitledto anything, it is much easier to share the many giftsthat God has given us.The we truly are His Stewards.
