District Commitment to Digital LearningWhat does it look like at the school-level?Students receive hands-on learning experiences that can’t beoutmatched. Instead of a textbook or even a website, our futurebiologists and medical professionals are able to manipulate Anatomage3D Tables to explore the many facets of the human body.Instead of diagrams and plastic cupsfilled with soil, the Geodome allowsstudents to create and manipulatetheir own ecosystem, answeringquestions such as: What does it take to create afunctioning ecosystem? How does an ecosystem supportlife? And (maybe most importantly)how does human activityIMPACT the ecosystem?Facebook: SustainableJersey Twitter: @SJ Program, @SJ Schools Insta: sustainable jersey LinkedIn: sustainable-jersey

District Commitment to Digital LearningWhat does it look like at the school-level?Using the 1-1 Chromebookinitiative and GoogleWorkspace allows the studentsto explore paths that are mostappropriate for both theirinterested and lexile level at aself-paced speed while theteachers work as facilitatorsfor learning.Student “Voice and Choice” allows future poets, writers andjournalists to use their creativity and skills gained in theHumanities Courses to express and describe the humanexperience fully as a response to literature and research in theway that fits them BEST.Facebook: SustainableJersey Twitter: @SJ Program, @SJ Schools Insta: sustainable jersey LinkedIn: sustainable-jersey

District Commitment to Digital LearningWhat does it look like at the school-level?The MakerSpace is a world ofwonder for students interested in theSTEAM fields of study. Studentswill explore the range of 3Dprinting and their application inmodern industrial, design, andcreative fields. Inquiry-basedlearning places students at the centerof the knowledge discovery andconstruction processes. Instead ofabsorbing information from theprofessor or starting with a set offacts, students leverage theirinherent curiosity to ask questions, engage with content, and seekanswers through experiences andexperiments. Thus, they will bechallenged to increase theircapacities for independent inquiry, taking on intellectual risks, learningfrom failures, collaboration, and foridentifying problems and solutionsto effect constructive andsustainable global change.Facebook: SustainableJersey Twitter: @SJ Program, @SJ Schools Insta: sustainable jersey LinkedIn: sustainable-jersey

Digital Learning LeadershipEquitable Access to Digital LearningFacebook: SustainableJersey Twitter: @SJ Program, @SJ Schools Insta: sustainable jersey LinkedIn: sustainable-jersey

Digital Learning LeadershipEquitable Access to Digital Learning: SpotlightMount Olive Township Schools“Our technology and social media survey demonstratesthat we have taken steps to assess the accessibility ofcomputers, programs, and use of social media to provideinformation, etc. All students and teachers have accessto an end user device, G Suite for Education, and othered tech tools. The district has made it a priority toprovide personalized digital resources to students so allmay equally benefit from digital learning.”Facebook: SustainableJersey Twitter: @SJ Program, @SJ Schools Insta: sustainable jersey LinkedIn: sustainable-jersey

Equitable Access to Digital Learning Collected data from teachers & guidance counselors toidentify students who need additional technology, programsor better/different internet access. Analyzed the data & determined deployment strategies fortechnology support or internet access. Monitor student academic success and well-being to seeif the technology solution contributed.Facebook: SustainableJersey Twitter: @SJ Program, @SJ Schools Insta: sustainable jersey LinkedIn: sustainable-jersey

Equitable Access to Digital LearningThe gaps that were identified were that many students did not have adequate hardware to fully engagein blended learning. Our high school was 1-1 with Chromebooks, but our middle school and elementaryschools were not. In 2020, our middle school leased Chromebooks so all students have their own device.Older machines are being passed down to the elementary schools to replace or augment their currentmachines. Additionally, access to reliable internet was identified as a roadblock for my many students withdisabilities, English Language Learners, and especially those students within our district who aresocio-economically disadvantaged. Our Information Technology department contracted with Optimum tolease jetpacks and distributed enough devices so 100% of our students and faculty have reliable internetIconnectivity. Many meaningful partnerships were established to help us addressissues identified in our survey. Many issues beyond technologysurfaced during focus groups, such as health, well-being, and accessto food. Optimum Lightpath Altice for Internet Access for ourChromebooks shored up connectivityFacebook: SustainableJersey Twitter: @SJ Program, @SJ Schools Insta: sustainable jersey LinkedIn: sustainable-jersey

Equitable Access to Digital Learning Of the students who needed additional support 50% had IEPs or 504s Socio-economic disparity Deployed JetPacks/Mifis Gave Ipads or Laptops if necessary Offered additional tech support and training to thestudents and parentsFacebook: SustainableJersey Twitter: @SJ Program, @SJ Schools Insta: sustainable jersey LinkedIn: sustainable-jersey

Equitable Access to Digital LearningFacebook: SustainableJersey Twitter: @SJ Program, @SJ Schools Insta: sustainable jersey LinkedIn: sustainable-jersey

Equitable Access to Digital Learning Underrepresented groups and special education groupsrequired more technology support and unique accessibilityfeatures. Personalized Technology Additional technology needs can be an indicator that otherservices are necessary. Having reliable access totechnology did NOT ensureacademic success andwell being.Facebook: SustainableJersey Twitter: @SJ Program, @SJ Schools Insta: sustainable jersey LinkedIn: sustainable-jersey
