Salisbury by honeywell Line EquipmentSalisbury by Honeywell has been settingindustry standards since 1855. For over 150years, Salisbury by Honeywell has been the namean entire industry trusts to provide the finestsafety products available. Salisbury by Honeywellpioneered the manufacturing of linemen’s RubberProtective Equipment in the early 1920’s.1855Founded in Chicago by John B. Idson. First organization in the Mid-West servingas an independent rubber products dealer.1871After a complete loss in the great Chicago Fire, organization opens with a beltingand hose line of products. Company becomes Salisbury & Cline.1880Company becomes W.H. Salisbury & Co.1902Established leather belt factory1902Linemen regularly use W.H. Salisbury & Co. garden hoses slit lengthwise andsecured with electrical tape as personal protective equipment.1904W.H. Salisbury & Co. incorporatesBack in the early 1900’s, Salisbury was approachedby a local utility in the Chicago area about generalsafety. The question raised was how to create a saferworking environment for linemen working on energizedlines. Salisbury worked with the local utility by takinggarden hose and cutting them lengthwise in a way thatwould cover the lines. These hoses were then securedby electrical tape and this led to the Salisbury patent ofline hose in 1924. Over the years, line hose has evolvedinto the high-quality SALCOR rubber product you havecome to expect.1912Organized electrical safety movement begins and creates Safety Departmentsand employs Safety Inspectors.1915First molded Rubber Insulating Blanket made by W.H. Salisbury & Co.1919A rubber mill was erected to manufacture molded and extruded rubber products.1921A local utility discusses lineman safety needs with W.H. Salisbury & Co. after afatal accident occurs.1922Manufacturing of full utility line of products begins.1922W.H. Salisbury & Co. first perfects and begins to offer Rubber Insulating Line Hose.1923W.H. Salisbury & Co. first perfects and begins to offer Insulator Hoods.Today, Salisbury by Honeywell is the leader inPersonal Electrical-Safety Protection. We knowthat lives depend on the quality of our products,Salisbury by Honeywell’s production facilities areall ISO 9001:2008 registered and are equipped andstaffed to manufacture products which conform to thehighest possible standards. This has allowed Salisburyby Honeywell to become the world-wide leader inelectrical safety equipment. Salisbury by Honeywellhas three plants which manufacture Personal ProtectiveEquipment, Hot Line Equipment, and SALVAR Polymer Insulators. Salisbury by Honeywell produces itsrubber products in its own plants using four methods ofrubber manufacturing: Injection Molding, Compression/Transfer Molding, Extruding and Dipping. Salisbury byHoneywell’s dedication to quality has also been carriedover to the manufacturing of Hot Line Tools and SALVARInsulators. As a result, the name Salisbury by Honeywellon safety products is your assurance that you are usingthe finest equipment available for the job.1924W.H. Salisbury & Co. patents Line Hose design1926W.H. LINE HOSE & COVERS

LINE HOSE & COVERSFAQQ: What is SALCOR Rubber and why does Salisbury use it to make theirA:line hose products?SALCOR Rubber is a TYPE II rubber that remains flexible in cold weather andis resistant to ozone and UV rays. Salisbury’s exclusive SALCOR Rubber is thepreferred material for line hose and other insulating products because it easilywithstands the elements and does not lose its flexibility or insulating properties.HISTORYLeading the industry with over ninety years of Research and DevelopmentFiled: United States Patent Office, December 21, 1922 Serial No 605,340“To all whom it may concern:Be it known that I, Moses B. Salisbury, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Chicago, in the county ofCook and State of Illinois, have invented an Improved Protective Insulating Sleeve, of which the following is a specification. . .”This application, one of hundreds filed in the US Patent Office for Salisbury, proved to be the most effective device for protecting linemen fromaccidental contact with energized lines, and is still regarded as indispensable to the electrical industry today. With over ninety years of research and development on linemen’s protective equipment, Salisbury offers the most comprehensive line ofprotection up to 69 kV in the industry.NOTEAll Salisbury Covers and Protective Equipment aredesigned for personal protection only. They are not to be used formechanical protection.A-2Insulating Line Hose and Covers.www.salisburybyhoneywell.com

Line Hose & ConnectorsConventional SystemConventional Style line Hose is available inorange Type II SALCOR . SALCOR remainsflexible even in cold weather and it is not damagedby ozone or ultraviolet rays. Each line hose hasSalisbury’s RIB-GRIP Locking System. Thestraight or connector end style is available in threesizes: 1” and 1.25” I.D. rated at 17kV, Class 2 and1.5” I.D. rated at 26.5kV, Class 3.OR150-3OR125-45CStraight style SalCOR hose is also available in2” or 2.5” I.D. rated at Class 3.Conventional line Hose Connectors are madefrom Type II orange SALCOR and can be used on1”, 1.25”, or 1.5” I.D. conventional line hose. Toconnect 2” and 2.5” I.D. conventional line hose, use the SU System Connector. The tightest grip in the industry. The self-locking lip, Salisbury patented, preventsline hose from coming off the conductor after aninstallation is complete. Often, as a lineman isworking on an installation and making adjustments, the angle of connection shifts, causing line hoseand covers to separate. To prevent this, Salisburydeveloped an ingenious solution for ensuring that anytwo protective devices would hold together yet stillbe easy for a lineman to assemble and take apart.ORC125RIb gRIP construction takes advantage of rubber’snatural tendency to grip and tighten its grip throughcompression. By creating curving rib configurations slitat a specific angle, two pieces easily slip together butresist coming apart. To quickly disengage the linemanneeds only to compress the rubber on either side.RIB GRIP Locking SystemSectional view of typical insulator covershowing arrangement of ribs. Ribs areengineered to grip the serrations on itscorresponding line hose, regardless of angle.Saw-tooth serrations on the ends ofline hose are angled to make it easy toinsert, but resist coming apart.A-4A row of serrations on both sides ofconnector line hose grips snugly insidethe large arm of insulator covers.Connector end line hose with rubberribs that grasp tightly and hold anadjoining length of hose.Insulating Line Hose and Covers.www.salisburybyhoneywell.com
