We have a new 4-H Agentand a new 4-H Program Assistant bothstarting in May and I can’t wait for the threeof us to hit the ground running with campand other summer programming! It iscertainly an exciting time at the ExtensionOffice!! With summer peaking around thecorner, we are gearing up for 4-H SummerCamp!! We still have spots available for 4-HSummer Camp, so get your applications insoon!! Page 2Clark County Headed to 4-H NationalShooting Championship!Shooting Sports Club is pleased to announce Clark County members willbe representing KENTUCKY this summer during the NATIONAL 4-HCompetition in Nebraska! For the first year ever, Kentucky is sendingteams to competein the National 4-HShootingSportsChampionship.Adding this state opportunity to compete ata national level will give youth a chance foradditional goals and bring greaterawareness to the Shooting Sports programwithin the Commonwealth.For 2022,Kentucky will be sending teams to competein two disciplines; Shotgun and BlackPowder. A goal of the program will be togrow this to all shooting sports disciplinesin the future, sending 9 full teamsconsisting of 36 youth to compete!We are thrilled to announce that CharlieCastle has succeeded in qualifying astop contender to represent Kentucky (andClark County) in Shotgun, shooting Skeet,Trap and Sporting Clays at the National4-H Championships!This multi-stepprocess began with his win last Septemberat the Kentucky 4-H State Competition.Throughout the winter, the top eight eligible youth across Kentucky have been working as a group(called our Gold Team), with certified instructors to hone their shotgun skills. A final competitionamongst Gold Team members resulted in Charlie winning the Sporting Clay and Skeet venues, andone target off the lead in Trap to be one of four individuals selected to represent Kentucky!Charlie began his 4-H career with Cloverbuds and has been continuously involved since, includingLivestock, Outdoor Adventure, Sewing, Cooking, Leadership, and of course, the Shooting Sports(Archery, Air Rifle, BB gun, 22 Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun).Clark County shotgun coaches Brian Eury and Mike Castle (Kentucky National Shotgun TeamCoach) have been working with the Gold Team youth across Kentucky since last October inpreparation for their journey.Members of our Kentucky National Team are now underway in their fundraising efforts to make thejourney, and continuing to practice for this inaugural trip in June representing the Commonwealth ofKentucky.Congratulations to all, and especially Clark County’s own Charlie Castle!
