Quarry TilesKetley Quarry Tiles, sometimes known also as paving tiles, are available in a range of natural clay colours andprovide a robust and hardwearing flooring solution. For restoration projects Ketley Quarry Tiles offer a very goodmatch to the discontinued Hawkins and Dennis Ruabon Quarry tiles which can be found in many parts of the UK.They offer excellent slip resistance and suit most flooring and wall cladding applications indoors or externally, incommercial premises or the home.18mm thick, they are manufactured from the proven Etruria Marl clay, which becomes dense when fired, and ishard wearing and resistant to acids, alkalis, oils, grease and fats. In pendulum tests where anything higher than36 indicates low slip potential, they score a dry value average of 63 and a wet value average of 55 meaning theyhave excellent slip resistance in both wet and dry conditions. They can be classified as R11 and Category C whichis the highest rating for slip resistance according to BS EN 14411.150mm x 150mm215mm x 102.5mm215mm x 65mmStaffordshire RedStaffordshire Light MultiQuarry Tiles - Pages 11-12Staffordshire Dark MultiStaffordshire Brown BrindleStaffordshire BlueSamples: Illustrations in this publication are as accurate as the printing process will permit and will reflect lighting conditions at the time thephotographs were taken. Creasing TilesKetley Creasing Tiles are manufactured from Etruria Marls, which are recognised as the finest clay for strength anddurability. Their low water absorption and durability make them ideal for exposed situations, subject to high degrees ofweathering and rising or penetrating damp.Creasing Tiles are plain clay tiles without nibs or camber and with a thickness of only 11mm, which makes them easierto cut to a high degree of accuracy than a brick. They are commonly used to add decorative finishes to brick and stonework in applications such as; cappings and copings, external cills, corbelling, arches, chimneys and decorative quoins.Staffordshire Blue BrindleStaffordshire RedStaffordshire Brown BrindleTechnical InformationSize:Thickness:265mm x 165mm11mmThere are no standards specifically covering Creasing Tiles, however Ketley Clay Creasing Tiles conform to BS EN 1304:2013which covers Clay Roof Tiles and Fittings and they exceed the specification in terms of transverse strength and water absorption.FinishSmoothfacedWeight per tile1.05kgWeight per pack1.20 TonnesNumber of Tiles per pack1000Transverse Strength880NWater Absorption3.9%Freeze/thaw resistanceConforms to BS EN 539-2:1998Laying InstructionsCreasing tiles should be laid with a broken bond and a minimum lap of 75mm. The joint width between creasing tiles shouldnot exceed 10mm in all applications. When cutting creasing tiles, a mechanical disc cutter is recommended over hand cutting particularly when usedin exposed areas, as this will provide a neater appearance and help to avoid cracks that can reduce theperformance of creasing tile. For freestanding walls where creasing tiles are used under brick cappings, two courses of clay tiles should be laid withstaggered joints in a 1:1/4:3 mortar and a minimum projection from the wall of at least 45mm.

Powerful reasons for using clay. For a genuine 'fit and forget' high performance, drainage solution, Hepworth Clay is unbeatable. 100% natural and fired to perfection. Sourced from our own quarries here in the UK, Hepworth Clay's strength is verified at the factory then delivered to site, enabling clay pipes to be installed shallow or deep

Confirmed spray-dried starch coated clay has increased paper strength vs. unmodified clay (handsheets) - Also bulk and stiffness improvement - Modified clay does not reduce clay's ability to increase paper brightness Potential to use low cost clay and low grade starch to produce high strength paper/board with high filler content

state (before it has been fired), clay can be powder, liquid, plastic, leather hard and bone dry. The use of clay for pottery, ceramics and clay figures had already been known by primitive people about 25000 [3]. In years ago recent times, clay is used as adsorbent, decolouration agent, ion exchange, and molecular sieve catalyst [4].

the development of the glossary: (1) it was decided to produce a glossary of clay terms, based on clay science. Terms may have other meanings in other disciplines, but the Committee did not want to include how other disciplines may use the terms (unless it is integral to the definition, e.g., as was the case of "particle size" for "clay").

CLAY FACTS . 1. Rocks in mountains weather and erode from wind and rain. This eroded material makes clay. Clay comes from the weathering of a rock called _FELDSPAR_. It is found in Granite. 2. We wedge (kneading soft, plastic clay on a porous surface) for several reasons before we begin our projects. List all four reasons we wedge clay:
