The creative inspiration for one of the fathers of Romanticism William Wordsworth wrote that he was “much favour’d in my birthplace”.Wordsworth House is a beautiful Georgian property, located in the gemtown of Cockermouth on the edge of the Lake District National Park.Be a part of its history and story by making it the venue for your wedding!The property is available for civil ceremonies, renewal of vows andnaming ceremonies. Take your photographs against the backdrop ofour lovely house and famous terrace walk. Enjoy a glass of bubbly inour glorious walled garden or in the atmospheric Georgian kitchen.For smaller parties, we can offer a delicious cream tea. Rooms registered for ceremoniesChoose between five locations for your ceremony: The light and gracious dining room makes an elegant and lovelysetting for your ceremony. Seating up to 40 people, this is thelargest option. Located on the first floor this room is accessiblefor wheelchairs. The warm and homely Georgian kitchen, which seats up to 20people, is perfect for those with a passion for food and a tastefor something unusual! Tie the knot in front of a roaring openfire, surrounded by the scent of drying herbs. Located on thefirst floor, this room has wheelchair access. The opulent and welcoming drawing room seats up to30 people. It contains our harpsichord, which can be used toprovide music during your ceremony. It is on the second floor,so is not accessible for people in wheelchairs or with mobilityproblems. The clerk’s office provides a unique and atmospheric settingfor up to 10 people. A traditional quill pen and ink are availablefor your use. Located on the first floor, this room haswheelchair access. Outside, the summerhouse is ourmost intimate setting for your bigday.
