Please read and understand the following safetyguidelines before you use the phone. These guidelinesprovide details to enable you to operate your phonesafely and conform to any legal requirements regardingthe use of cellular phones.Use only ECOM Smart-Ex 02 approvedcharging equipment to charge your phoneand avoid damage to your phone.The symbol of the crossed-out wheeledbin indicates that this product, and anyenhancements marked with this symbol,can not be disposed as unsorted wastebut must be taken to separate collectionat their end-of-life.Electrical interference may obstruct theuse of your phone. Observe restrictions inhospitals and near medical equipment.Ensure that only qualified personnel installor repair your phone.Switch off your cellular phone when inan aircraft. Wireless phones can causeinterference or danger to an aircraft. In anaircraft, the phone can be used in flightmode.Applicable to non-EX versions only:Do not to use the phone at a refuelingpoint. Observe restrictions when usingradio equipment at fuel depots, chemicalplants or where blasting operations are inprogress.Safety GuidelinesDo not expose the battery to hightemperatures (in excess of 55 C).Adhere to road safety laws. Do not hold/use a phone while you are driving; find asafe place to stop first. Use hands-freemicrophone while you are driving.Avoid using the phone in close proximityto personal medical devices, such aspacemakers and hearing aids.8

Safety GuidelinesThe ECOM Smart-Ex 02 is water-proofand can be submerged to 2 metres for 30minutes.Make sure to properly close the rubbercover of the charging connector and audioconnector and the screws of the SIM cardcover shall be tightened to avoid depositsof water drops on these connectors, whenthe phone is immersed in water.Water droplets may condense under thedisplay cover if the phone is immersed inwater with significant drop in temperature.This does not indicate water leakage. Thedroplets disappear at room temperature.The ECOM Smart-Ex 02 is dust-resistant,rugged and shock-resistant. However, it isnot dust-proof or unbreakable if subjectedto overwhelming impact. For best resultsand long product life, one should protectthe ECOM Smart-Ex 02 from salt water,dust and strong impacts.9

SAR InformationA minimum separation distance of 1.5 cm must bemaintained between the user’s body and the device,including the antenna during body-worn operation tocomply with the RF exposure requirements in Europe.The limit recommended by ICNIRP is 2 W/kg averagedover ten (10) gram of tissue.The following SAR values are applicable to ROWvariant of Smart-Ex 02 smartphones. This variant isavailable in countries in Asia, Australia and Europeanunion.The highest SAR value for the ECOM Smart-Ex 02ROW phone when tested by ECOM for use:By the head is 0.594 W/Kg (10 g).Worn on the body is 1.931 W/Kg (10 g-5 mm).The ECOM Smart-Ex 02 has been certified incompliance with the Government’s requirements forexposure to Radio Waves. When communicating over the wireless network, thesmartphone emits via the radio frequency waves lowlevels of radio energy. The Specific Absorption Rate,or SAR, is the amount of RF energy absorbed by thebody while using the phone and is expressed in watts/kilogram (W/kg).Safety GuidelinesGovernments around the world have adoptedcomprehensive international safety guidelines,developed by scientific organizations, for example,ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-IonizingRadiation Protection) and IEEE (The Institute ofElectrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.). Theseguidelines establish permitted levels of radio waveexposure for the general population.Avoid High TemperaturesLeaving the phone in hot or cold places, such as in aclosed car in summer or winter conditions, reducesthe capacity and lifetime of the built-in battery. Forthe best results, try to keep the phone between -20 Cand 55 C (-4 F and 131 F). A phone with a hot orcold battery may not work temporarily, even whenthe battery is fully charged. Battery performance isparticularly limited in temperatures well below freezing.Tests for SAR are conducted using standardizedmethods with the phone transmitting at its highestcertified power level in all used frequency bands.Personal Medical DevicesSAR Data Information for residents in countriesthat have adopted the SAR limit recommendedby the International Commission on Non-IonizingRadiation Protection (ICNIRP). For example,European Union, Japan, Brazil and New Zealand.Smartphones may affect the operation of cardiacpacemakers and other implanted equipment. Pleaseavoid placing the smartphone over the pacemaker,for example in your breast pocket. When using10

smartphone for essential communications (e.g. medicalemergencies). Emergency calls may not be possiblein all areas, on all cellular networks, or when certainnetwork services and/or smartphone features are inuse. Check with your local service provider.To make emergency calls, the user can dial theemergency numbers.the smartphone, place it at the ear opposite thepacemaker. If a minimum distance of 15 cm (6 inches)is kept between the smartphone and the pacemaker,the risk of interference is limited. If you suspect thatinterference is taking place, immediately turn offyour smartphone. Contact your cardiologist for moreinformation. For other medical devices, consult yourphysician and the manufacturer of the device. Complywith instructions to switch off the device or deactivatethe RF transmitter when required, especially whenposted in hospitals and aeroplanes. Equipment used inthese places may be sensitive to radio waves emittedfrom the device and adversely affect their operation.Also, observe restrictions at gas stations or other areaswith flammable atmosphere or when close to electroexplosive devices (applicable to non-EX versions only).If the phone display is in locked state, you can longpress the EMERGENCY text on the screen.Safety GuidelinesChild SafetyDo not allow children to play with your smartphoneor its accessories. Keep it out of their reach. Theycould hurt themselves or others, or could accidentallydamage the smartphone or accessories. Yoursmartphone and its accessories may contain smallparts, which could be detached and create a chokinghazard.Emergency CallsSmartphones operate using radio signals, whichcannot guarantee connection under all conditions.Therefore you should never rely solely upon any11

Battery Usage2. Connect to PhoneThe charging port is located in lower side of thephone, below the back cover. Insert the magneticconnector to the charging port, such that theblack arrow is positioned on the top of theconnector.ECOM Smart-Ex 02 phone comes with a removablebattery. For any battery related queries contact ECOMcustomer support.WARNINGUse only ECOM certified charger and chargingcable with magnetic connector , to charge yourECOM Smart-Ex 02.3. Charging Animation/IconIf the battery is being charged when the phone isswitched off, a battery charging animation withcharged percentage is displayed.If the battery is being charged while the phoneis switched on, the battery charge icon on thehome screen shows animation indicating that thebattery is being charged. After the phone is fullycharged the charging animation stops and youcan disconnect the charger from the phone.The LED indicator on the top right corner ofthe phone, shows RED when the charging isin progress and changes to GREEN once thecharging completes.Charging the BatteryThe battery delivered with your smartphone is not fullycharged. We recommend to charge the phone for fivehours before using it for the first time. The full capacityof the battery is reached after 3 to 4 complete charge/discharge cycles.Battery Usage GuidelinesThere is a risk of explosion while charging if thebattery has been replaced by an incorrect type.WARNINGDO NOT charge your ECOM Smart-Ex 02 insidehazardous areas and/or with any other cable andcharger other than the provided ECOM certifiedcharging cable and charger.1. Insert ChargerInsert the charger plug into a power outlet.Charging your ECOM Smart-Ex 02 with a differentcable/Charger and/or in a hazardous environmentwill compromise the intrinsically safe nature of thedevice.12

Move Maps or Navigation apps to background whenyou are not using them. They use GPS (and thus morepower) only when they’re running.Set screen brightness to Auto and set a shorter Sleeptimeout (1 minute). The display settings are located inSettings Display.Verifying and Optimizing Battery UsageTo check the battery usage status and also close someapplications to save battery power, select Settings Battery.The current battery charge status (charging ordischarging) and the charge level details are displayedon the top of the screen.If you are travelling and do not have access to mobileor Wi-Fi network, switch to Aeroplane mode. Dragdown the notification bar and locate the AirplaneBattery Usage GuidelinesThe discharge graph (visible upon tapping the Showfull device usage option from right top corner optionicon) shows the battery level over time since you lastcharged the device.mode icon (). Tap the Aeroplane icon to enable/activate Aeroplane mode ( ).The list at the bottom of the screen shows thebreakdown of battery usage for individual applicationsand services. Touch any listed items for more details.The details screen for some applications includesoptions that allow you to adjust settings affectingpower usage, or stop the app completely.If you stop some system apps or services such asGoogle service, your device may not work correctly.Tips to extend the battery lifeFollow these tips to extend your phone’s battery life.If you are using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or GPS, use theQuick Settings or Phone Settings to turn them off.13

Switching OnPress and hold the Power ON/OFF key located inthe top corner in the right hand side for 2 seconds toPower ON the phone.When the phone is switched on, it tries to register withthe network. After successful registration, the names ofthe service providers are displayed.Setting Up Your PhoneTo setup your phone follow the instructions on thesetup wizard.Your ECOM Smart-Ex 02Need for a Google AccountSigning into Google account helps user to accesspersonalized offerings via Google Mobile Services(e.g. e-mail, calendar, drive, contacts). It also providesmultiple security and management services for yourdevice and Google services. For more details andlatest information, visit https://support.google.com/accounts.17

Managing Home Screen1After you complete the phone setup, the home screenis displayed. The home screen is the beginning point toaccess all the device’s features. Creating a Folder on the Home ScreenTo view the notifications, swipe your finger downfrom the top of the screen.Folders helps you to keep the icons in an organizedfashion. To create folders,1. Touch and hold an icon on the home screen orApplications.2. Drag and postion it on another icon that you want tobe included in the same folder.3. Tap the folder. Both the icons are grouped togetherin an unnamed folder.4. Tap the name area and give a suitable name.The System icons on the right displays the currentdevice status such as wireless and network connectionstrength, battery level. Time & connectivity statusshows on the left side of status bar.The Google Search bar lets you search the items inyour phone or the Internet.Touch Google Search bar totype your search terms, or to speak and give a voiceinput.Moving an Icon/Folder from the Home ScreenYou can save folders, application and add widgets onyour home screen panel.1. Tap and hold the application icon and drag it to thenew location.2. To move it to another panel, drag it to the side of thescreen.Your ECOM Smart-Ex 02Adding an Application Icon to Home Screen1. Go to home screen and drag it up to view theApplications screen.2. Swipe up or down to locate the application forwhich you require a shortcut on the home screen.3. Touch and hold the application icon and drag it tothe home screen.4. To open an app, folder, or widget, touch its icon.5. To view other Home screens, swipe the currenthome screen to left or right.Removing an Icon/Folder from the Home Screen1. Tap and hold the application icon. A Remove icon()is displayed on the top of the homescreen.2. Drag the icon and position it on the Remove icon tillit turns red.3. Drop the icon and it is deleted from the homescreen.19

Taking a ScreenshotYour ECOM Smart-Ex 02You can take the screenshot of the current screenand it is stored in your phone’s gallery. To take ascreenshot:Ensure that the image to be captured is displayed inthe current screen.Press Power and Volume down button simultaneously.The screnshot is captured and stored in the gallery.A screenshot captured icon () is also displayed inthe home screen top bar.22

Managing Phone SettingsLanguage and Input SettingsText -to-speech Output SettingsYou can set the phone’s language to any language orenglish preferred language.1. From the Home or All Apps screen, tap Settings().2. Scroll down and tap Languages & input, locatedunder System settings.3. Go to Languages and select any language from thelist as your preferred language.4. If the required language is not available, tap Add aLanguage, select the language from the languagelist. The language pack is downloaded and added.5. Tap and hold on the language and drag it to the topof the list to select as preferred language.The Speech engine is set to Text-to-speech.Tochange the Google Text-to-speech engine settingsand install new language packs. Tap Settings ()provided in the Text-to-speech output menu next tothe engine (Google Text-to-Speech).Tap Language, to view the language set for speechoutput.Tap Speech rate, to set speed at which text is to bespoken.Tap Pitch to set the voice pitch.Tap Play to verify the set speech rate.Select Google Search Assistant & Voice Search Language to change the voice searchlanguage. You can search anything on Google,send message or can use for navigation using voicecommand in your own set language.)6. To delete a language from the list, tap Options (and tap Remove.7. This also optimizes the battery powerconsumed.Wallpaper: Set the wallpaper for your home screen.You can select from one of the following wallpapercollections:Live wallpapers: Includes live wall paper if anydownloaded from playstore or other sourcesPhotos: Includes photos captured using thephone camera, screen capture, downloaded andthe photos synced from Google account.Wallpapers: Includes images that are prebundled with the phone.Sleep: Set the sleep time so that the backlight turnsoff after specified time of phone inactivity. Thissetting will also help you to optimize battery power.Font size: Set the font size of the text displayed inthe screen.Ambient display: Activates the screen from sleepmode, when there is a new notification.Quick SettingsQuick settings helps to access the most frequentlyused settings from the status bar.Drag down the status bar to access the Quick Settings.Tapto view the complete list of settings present inthe quick settings.To add or remove a setting to/from the quick settings,).tap Edit (Force Stopping an Application1. From the Home or All Apps screen, tap Settings ().2. Scroll down and tap Apps & notifications. Therecently used application list is displayed3. Tap See all apps to view all the applications.4. Tap the application to be force stopped.5. Tap Force stop to stop an application.Power Saving SettingsViewing Battery LifeTo view the battery life when all the apps are running,1.
