FATHER JASON KAHLE - NEW PASTOR AS OF JULY 1, 202202“‘My grace is enough for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ I will rather boast moregladly of my weaknesses in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me” (2 Cor. 9:12). This versefrom St. Paul’s letter to the Corinthians has been a favorite of mine for some time and has been afocus for me in my priesthood. It reminds me that strength comes not from what I can do, but rather, from what God can do with and through me. And what God can do is much more than what I can do. Ihave only to look at where I’ve been and where I am as evidence.I come from a German Catholic community in the small village of Kalida, OH where my mom still lives.Being number four out of five kids (my sister was blessed with four younger brothers), I have a special appreciationfor family, sharing resources, and the gifts I’ve been blessed with. I graduated from The Ohio State University in 2003with a degree in Industrial Design (aka: the design of everyday things) and entered Mount St. Mary’s Seminary inCincinnati in the fall. In 2009, I was ordained by now, Archbishop Leonard Blair with four other men. My firstassignment was in Sandusky where I served with Fr. Dave Nuss and Fr. Joe Steinbauer. I then served as Pastor at St.Thomas More University Parish in Bowling Green before going to St. Joseph’s Parish in Sylvania for two years. All this has led me to Little Flower, of which I am excited and grateful to serve and walk the journey of faith with you!I’m confident that God has wonderful things in store for us and I’m eager to explore and discover those with you.Praying for you as you pray for me,Fr. JasonENGAGING DISCIPLES-SISTER MARILYN MARIE ELLERBROCK, SNDAs I approach the season of spring, it is a good time to check my gardening tools. Do I have a hoewith a sharpened blade?A hoe is a helpful instrument for cultivating, raking or loosening the earth around a plant. Using itrequires a strong handle, sharp blade AND the strength and effort of the one using it. In manyways, it is among the simplest of garden tools; it has no moving parts and does not requirebatteries or electricity. It helps in planting, cultivating and weeding. The size of a hoe needs to match the user.In the springtime of my spiritual journey, I need to identify practices that will serve as “spiritual hoes”. I may need toreplace plants that have died or add to my garden. Perhaps the “ground” of my spiritual life has become a bithardened over time, and I need to break it up to allow the air and nutrients of God’s grace to penetrate into my dailylife. Maybe a few weeds have crept in, and I need to uproot them before they get too large and begin to take over.Tending to my spiritual garden begins with taking the time and silence to be aware of what is most needed. I seekGod’s grace to provide the growth of those virtues God desires for me to live. I uproot the sinful tendencies throughthe Sacrament of Reconciliation and finding others in community who will help me to be accountable. I am open tothe ways that will help me grow rather than living in comparison to others. How are you tending to your spiritual garden?

His early years were marked by fervent practiceof his faith as well as excellence in his schooling. After serving as an apprentice to a merchant, hebecame interested in the Catholic faith. He entered theMonastery of the Trinity, and through his sanctity andleadership skills drew many young men to this way oflife. Devotion to the liturgy and dedication to theSacraments marked his priestly life and ministry. Hespent the remainder of his life as priest and bishoppromoting union between the Eastern Orthodox Churchand Rome. In the end, it was a mob of people whodisagreed with his stance of union who put him todeath. PARISH HAPPENINGSFORMEDDid Jesus Really Rise from the Dead?Skeptics have long tried to show that there was noResurrection. Today, there has been a resurgence ofattacks on this central truth of Christianity. Somepeople claim that the followers of Jesus fabricated theResurrection. Others argue that the discipleshallucinated or had a “vision” of their dead master, which they confused with a truly risen Jesus. Othersstill suggest that the Resurrection was a myth or thatthe Apostles may have seen a spirit or witnessed a“spiritual resurrection” that had nothing to do with anempty tomb and the transformation of Jesus’s deadbody. Did Jesus Really Rise from the Dead? carefullyscrutinizes the historical evidence. Rather than acceptChristian belief blindly, top scholars, and biblicalhistorians critically examine alternative explanations. Inthe end, they show why it is a matter of sound reason aswell as faith to affirm what the early Church proclaimed:Jesus is risen.A fascinating fast-paced, exciting exploration ofJesus’s fate, Did Jesus Really Rise from the Dead?shows how Jesus’s Resurrection has consequences forevery one of us.APRIL 10, 2022 05PARISH LEADERSHIP TEAM419.537.6655 Fax 419.537.1469www.littleflowertoledo.orgOffice hours Mon-Thurs 9a-5p; Friday 9a-1pFather Chris Hudgin, OSFS, Parochial Administratorchudgin@littleflowertoledo.orgDeacon Doug Bullimore, Permanent Deacondbullimore@littleflowertoledo.orgTom Williams, Director of Music & Liturgytwilliams@littleflowertoledo.orgSister Marilyn Marie Ellerbrock, SNDDirector of Faith Formation & z Stieber, Director of Finance & Operationslstieber@littleflowertoledo.orgDeb Kelleher, Coordinator-Catechesis ofthe Good Shepherddkelleher@littleflowertoledo.orgLaurie Fitzpatrick, Administrative Assistantparishcenter@littleflowertoledo.orgMeghan Barron, Sac.
