This system separates faculty/staff and students into small groups(Houses) within the larger school community. This fosters pride, responsibility, andrespect for the contributions of others. This endeavor has several purposes. To build and promote community across the grade levels and throughoutthe schoolTo encourage positive behaviorTo strive to meet high academic expectationsTo teach students to take ownership of their role in the communityTo promote a positive mindset within our school climateStudents earn points for their House from all UES faculty and staff. Points are earnedfor positive choices and actions and demonstrating behaviors that are essential to apositive school culture. Once points are earned they cannot be taken away. This endeavor is about empowering our students to believe in themselves and sethigh expectations for their future. By modeling and supporting positive choices andstrong character traits, students take more pride and ownership in their learning andacademic progress.

Clinic/MedicineUnion STEM has a clinic where a sick or injured child may temporarily remain until aparent or guardian can arrive to pick up him/her.In 2019-20, Union’s School Nurse is ASHLEY HARRIS.Aspirin, Tylenol, and any other pain/fever medication cannot be provided to students atUnion. All prescription and non-prescription medication will be administered through the office. Please limit the numbers of dosage as much as possible. At times, disciplinary measures will need to be issued in order to ensure that our students’learning is not interrupted or inhibited by the misbehavior of others, especiallymisbehavior that is consistently frequent and disruptive.Rules are standardized throughout the Union building. Regular education, related arts, and special education teachers communicate through the use of school-wide disciplineforms. You can expect either written or verbal communication if a pattern of misconductoccurs.Five School-Wide RulesBe respectful to everyone and school property.Be sure to keep hands, feet, and objects to self.Be considerate of others by walking and talking quietly in the building.Be responsible for what you do and say.Be ready to follow directions the first time.
