The shepherd loves his sheep, just likeGod loves us.4. Which Super Skuppet was missing? Who found her?Zara was missing but Winston found her because he cares about hisfriends. This story and the Bible story about the lost sheep remind us ofGod’s promise to take care of us!5. How does it make you feel that God promises to take care of you?God loves you so much. That’s why he made you. He wanted you to beborn so that you could be in his family and he could love you, help you,and take care of you.6. Pray with your child and thank God for his good promises! You might praysomething like this: Dear God, thank you that you love us so much andthat you want everyone to be in your family. Thank you for your promise totake care of us. We love you so much and want everyone to know yourlove, too. Amen.

Week 1: More Than a NumberThose the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them. John 6:37Read:Luke 15:1-7When Jesus would speak in public, tax collectors and other well-known sinners would oftengather around him to listen. When the Pharisees and teachers would hear about thesegatherings, they would become upset that Jesus would associate himself with such “sinful”people. Jesus knew how the religious leaders felt about him spending time with sinners, so hebegan to tell a story we now know as the Parable of the Lost Sheep. In this story, we see howdesperately God loves us. Enough to leave an entire flock to go after even just one “lost” sheep,or sinner. Like a shepherd, he would do anything to bring his children back to him – even if thatchild had sinned or gone astray. Jesus explained this parable by saying that heaven rejoiceseven more over one sinner returning than over one who had never gone astray. This tells usthat God loves and accepts us just as we are – flaws, sins, shortcomings and all. He promises towelcome us back no matter how far we’ve strayed.Jesus knew the Pharisees were speaking poorly of him, and this is the story he chose to sharewith them. Instead of getting prideful, insecure, or embarrassed that people were judgmentalof his actions, Jesus told them – through parables – how much he loved and accepted them. When we overhear others talking negatively about us, our first tendency is probably not toshow love and acceptance. Jesus could have ignored the Pharisees or said bad things aboutthem in return. But, just like the shepherd and his lost sheep, God accepts us for who we areeven when we stray from him. He never gives up on us. He continues to search and call for us.When we repent and ask for forgiveness, God promises us that he will never reject us. It’s up tous to believe and claim God’s promise of acceptance.Questions to think about:1. Do you extend God’s acceptance toward other people? Who do you have a hard timeaccepting?2. Is there someone in your life you need to intentionally go after and offer forgiveness oracceptance to? Pray about what that looks like and what God may be asking you to do.3. What do you need to confess or repent of to God, allowing him to fully love and acceptyou? Do you truly believe he will do that?

God promises to give me peace. Lesson 3 Jesus Calls Matthew Matthew 9:9-13 God promises to give me a purpose. Lesson 4 God is With Us Acts 1-2 God promises to be with me. Lesson 5 Jesus and the Sinful Woman Luke 7:37-50 God promises to forgive me. Lesson 6 The Apostles and the High Council Acts 5:17-42 God promises to make me strong.
