Driver’s assistance systems.05Intelligent driver assistance systems ensure greater comfort and convenienceon your journey, and can help you to overcome or avoid potentially critical situations.01 Blind spot monitor with ‘Rear Traffic Alert’ and ‘Lane Keeping Assist’ is acamera and radar sensor controlled warning system that helps you keep yourdistance in congested traffic and avoid a typical congestion type collision.Should your vehicle drift out of lane, the system accelerates, brakes and steersas appropriate, as long as it detects the driver’s hands on the wheel. Optionalon Highline models.010202 Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) including Front Assist radar sensor controlleddistance monitoring system, City emergency braking system, cruise control andspeed limiter, offers you intelligent control of your driving speed by automaticallyadjusting acceleration and braking. Whether around town or on the motorway,the system will adjust your speed to that of the vehicle in front, keep yourspecified distance, warn if you are approaching too fast and, in an emergencysituation, generate enough braking force to try to reduce the severity of a collisionor possibly even prevent the collision entirely. Standard on Comfortline andHighline models.03 Forward collision warning ‘Front Assist’ with pedestrian recognition warningfeatures a camera and radar sensor controlled warning system. This alerts youshould it detect any pedestrians at the edge of the road or on the carriageway,via acoustic and optical signals as well as a gentle jolt of the brakes. Standard onComfortline and Highline models.030404 Trailer Assist including ‘Park Assist’ and ‘Park Distance Control’ (PDC) helpsyou reverse a trailer or caravan with a weight of up to 1,800 kg into a parkingbay or entrance from the street. To operate, simply engage reverse gear andactivate the system via a push button. The driving angle and possible drivingangles are displayed on the instrument cluster. All the driver has to do is operatethe accelerator pedal and brake, while the system automatically controls thedirection of the car, using Park Assist to move the trailer backwards into therequired position. Optional on Comfortline and Highline models. Must be orderedin conjunction with optional trailer hitch – manually swivelling (1D4).Interior shown is new Golf GTI DSG.05 The Active Info Display is a fully configurable, interactive 12.3 inch TFT display which replaces the standard analogue instrument cluster, displaying vehicle data and information on your dashboard quickly and easily usingthe multifunctional steering wheel. Five different modes allow you to customise the screen, with large or small dials as you prefer, and a number of items displayed behind them. When used in navigation mode, in conjunctionwith the ‘Discover Media’ 1 or ‘Discover Pro’ systems, you can move the speedometer and rev counter to the edge of the display, creating more space for the navigational map. If you wish, you can include driving, navigation andassistance functions within the graphics of the speedometer. As the Active Info Display is linked to all other assistance systems in the vehicle, any data shown in the centre console of the infotainment system, such as phonenumbers or your music’s compatible cover art, can also be displayed on the dash, conveniently placed directly within the driver’s optimum field of vision.
