Investing in the FundsGeneralBefore you can request a transaction to buy units of a Fund, you must first open an account withyour representative. When you submit a request to purchase, switch or redeem units of a Fund, the amount you payor receive for each unit will depend on when we receive your request.Generally, trades must be received by us before 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time on a valuation day toreceive the Fund’s unit value for that day. If we receive trade requests after 1:00 p.m. PacificTime on a valuation day, those requests will be processed using the Fund’s unit value on the nextvaluation day.Your representative will have their own time requirements for receiving a trade request in orderto meet our cut-off time. Please consult with them for information about their cut-off times forprocessing orders. How we calculate the net asset value of the Funds’ unitsWe, or our authorized agents, calculate a separate net asset value for each series of unit for theMutual Funds and each unit for the Pooled Funds at the end of each valuation day.A valuation day is any day that the Toronto Stock Exchange is open for business or such otherday as we may determine from time to time. The net asset value and net asset value per unit of each Fund is available on request at no costby calling 1-888-390-3333, and on our website at www.assetmanagement.hsbc.ca.Mutual FundsFor the Mutual Funds, the net asset value per unit of each series is calculated by taking theproportionate share of the net assets of the Mutual Fund allocated to the series of unit asdetermined on the previous valuation day, and adding or subtracting, as appropriate, the series’proportionate share of net income, net realized capital gains (losses), common expenses, directexpenses for the series, and the unrealized change in value of the Mutual Fund’s investmentportfolio since the previous valuation day of the series. This amount is then divided by thenumber of units outstanding of the series of unit on that valuation day to produce the daily netasset value for units of the series.Pooled FundsFor the Pooled Funds, the Pooled Fund’s net asset value per unit is the market value of all thePooled Fund’s assets at the time the valuation is made, less its liabilities, divided by the totalnumber of units outstanding at the time.Money Market FundsFor the HSBC Canadian Money Market Fund, HSBC U.S. Dollar Money Market Fund andHSBC Canadian Money Market Pooled Fund, we aim to maintain a constant net asset value per-9

unit of each series. However, there is no guarantee that the net asset value per unit of eachseries of these Funds will not go up and down in value. We achieve this by crediting the netinvestment income of these Funds, if any, to investors on each valuation day and thendistributing these amounts at the end of each month. We automatically reinvest distributionsfrom these Funds in additional units of the applicable Fund unless investors tell theirrepresentative in advance that they want to receive distributions in cash.Minimum investment requirementsYou must meet the minimum investment requirements for the initial investment, subsequentinvestment and ongoing balance to be eligible to purchase or continue to hold units ofthe Funds.Mutual FundsThe following table sets out the minimum initial investment, minimum subsequent investmentand minimum balance requirement for each series of the Mutual Funds:SeriesMinimuminitial investmentMinimumsubsequentinvestment*Minimum balanceInvestor Series 500 50 500Investor T Series 500 50 500D Series 500 50 500DT Series 500 50 500Premium Series 100,000 50 100,000Premium T Series 100,000 50 100,000Manager Series 500 50 500Institutional Series**–––* Minimum investment requirements may differ under the regular investment plan, monthly withdrawalplan or the mutual fund allocation service offered by the Principal Distributor.
