This is the Faculty of Science Handbook. In it you willfind a store of information about things you are likelyto need to know about the Faculty.In particular, it will help you to find out who thepeople in your Faculty are; the requirements fordegrees in the Faculty and the ways that these can besatisfied; what courses are offered and the booksrequired to do these courses; where to turn for moreinformation, advice and help.When making up your mind about your course ofstudy, look at Chapter 3, dealing with how to get adegree, and also read the Resolutions of the Senatethat apply to the degree. If you would like help indeciding on the best course for you to take, talk tosomeone.Once you have selected the departments you willbe studyingin, you will then enrol. The Faculty requiresall enrolments to be approved by Faculty Advisersbefore the completion of the enrolment process. Other combinations give a broad generalbackground in science and are excellent training formany careers in both the public and private sectors.Some courses are offered at two levels and manyothers contain advanced level options.
