TheEuropean Community WEEE Directive establishes minimum standards for handlingwaste electrical and electronic equipment inthe EU.Additional information, background material and configuration tips for your device.Indicates a completed course of action1.2 Intended useUse devolo products, devolo software and the provided accessories as described to prevent damage and injury.devolo Magic 2 LANProductsdevolo products are communication devices designed for indoors.* Depending on the product, they are equipped with aPLC- (PowerLine Communication) and/or a Wi-Fi module. Computers, laptops, smartphones, tablets, smart TVs and other devices connected this way are integrated into a home network overthe existing electrical wiring and/or Wi-Fi without any complicated wiring. devolo devices must never be used outdoors becausethe high temperature fluctuations and moisture can damage boththe product and the power line. devolo products may not be installed at a height above two metres unless an additional fastening mechanism is available. The products are intended foroperation in the EU, Switzerland and Norway.* The only exceptions are devolo outdoor products, which are suited for the outdoor use thanks to their IP certification.Softwaredevolo devices can be used only with the free, downloadableprograms approved and available on devolo AG's website(www.devolo.com) and in app stores (iOS and Google Play). Anymodifications to the product-specific firmware or software coulddamage the products and, in the worst-case scenario, renderthem unusable and negatively affect conformity.Always use the most up-to-date software version to make sureyou have the latest security functions and device updates. Introduction 122.3 Pairingdevolo Magic adapters that are in factory default condition, i.e.have been purchased or successfully reset (see Chapter Resetting a devolo Magic adapter or removing it from adevolo Magic network), automatically start to attempt to pairwith another devolo Magic adapter when reconnected to themains supply.PLC/reset button on a devolo Magic adapter in your existingdevolo Magic network.For each pairing operation, only one additionaldevolo Magic adapter can be added at a time.햳Starting up a new devolo Magic networkAfter a short time, the flashing LED becomes a steadywhite light. The devolo Magic adapter has been successfully integrated into your existing devolo Magicnetwork.After plugging the devolo Magic adapters into available powersockets, a new devolo Magic network is established automatically within 3 minutes.Expanding an existing devolo Magic network by addinganother devolo Magic adapterIn order to use a new devolo Magic 2 LAN in your devolo Magicnetwork, first you have to connect it to your existingdevolo Magic adapters devices as a network. Damage to the device caused byambient conditionsOnly use device indoors in dry conditionsIn the following sections we describe how to connect thedevolo Magic 2 LAN and integrate it into a network. We clarifythe exact procedures based on potential network scenarios.For the permitted voltage range for operating the deviceand the power consumption, refer to the type plate on therear of the device. For additional technical information onour products, refer to the product area atwww.devolo.com.햴Plug both devolo Magic adapters into available power sockets within 3 minutes. As soon as the LEDs on both adaptersflash white at regular intervals of 0.5 sec., they are ready tooperate and automatically start the process of establishingan encrypted connection to each other (see Chapter 2.3.1Reading the indicator light).If the LEDs on both devolo Magic adapters light up inwhite, then your devolo Magic network has been set upaccording to your individual specifications and is protected from unauthorised access.3.3.1 Starter Kit – Automatic set-up for a newdevolo Magic network햲Connect one devolo Magic 2 LAN to your Internet accessdevice's network connection (e.g. your Internet router).햳Connect the other devolo Magic 2 LAN to the network connection of your computer or another network device using anetwork cable.CAUTION! 19 Initial use3.3.2 Addition – Expanding an existing networkby adding another devolo Magic adapterBefore you can use the devolo Magic 2 LAN in your devolo Magicnetwork, first you have to connect it to your existingdevolo Magic adapters as a network. This is accomplished byusing a shared password.햲햳햴쎲 Using devolo Cockpit or the devolo app. For more information, refer to the following chapter.Connect the devolo Magic 2 LAN to the network connectionof your computer or another network device using a networkcable.3.4 Installation of devolo softwarePlug the devolo Magic 2 LAN into an available powersocket. As soon as the LED flashes white at regular intervalsof 0.5 seconds, the adapter is ready to operate but not yetintegrated into a devolo Magic network (see Chapter 2.3.1Reading the indicator light).devolo Cockpit finds all accessible devolo Magic adapters in yourdevolo Magic network, displays information about these devicesand encrypts your devolo Magic network individually.
