Introductionurvivors of domestic violence face serious challenges. Many struggle to finda safe place to live and put food on the table. Others struggle to find and holda job. Protecting one’s money and other assets can also be a challenge. TheMoving Ahead Through Financial Management curriculum can help.SDomestic violence survivors deserve access to the resources they need. They deservehousing, jobs and economic resources for their families. This is true whether they leaveabusive relationships or remain in them.Every story and strategy in this curriculum is designed to help survivors overcome thechallenges they will meet. It explores many of the choices that may present themselves. Italso identifies community resources to help survivors build financially independent lives.Community resources may include: Domestic violence programs that offer support for safety and financial success 2016 The Allstate Foundation and National Network to End Domestic Violence. Job and professional skills development programs Community organizations that work with local banks and foundations to help survivorssave money for education, develop a business or buy a homeThe focus of the Moving Ahead Through Financial Management curriculum is on womenbecause women comprise the majority of domestic violence victims.
