From this we have discovered thatmany adults visiting our school have not been signing in at the front office, and wehave not had a record of their presence in the school. This becomes an issue, inthe situation of a fire, as there is no accurate record of adults on site. We have alsofound that our visitors have not been able to tell the difference between a fire alarmand that used for lock-down.Two changes have needed to be made. The first has been the addition of a voiceover to the alerts telling everyone whether the alarm is for evacuation or lock-down.The second change will be that ALL adults visiting school between 9.10am and3.05pm will need to sign in at the front office. We understand that this can be aninconvenience. You will need to sign in when you arrive, and sign out when youleave if you are: Going beyond the front officeDropping lunches or equipment to your children in their classroomsMeeting with a teacherAssisting in the classroom or canteenDropping children to the pre-school or playgroup roomsWorking in the SaCC roomCollecting children before 3.05pm and are waiting on school grounds.Attending assembly (a sign on sheet is available at the hall when you arrive– you will need to sign in at the office if staying longer). To avoid the need to sign in, drop lunches and belongings to the office, or wait foryour children outside of the school gates until 3.05pm.We hope that parents will assist us in ensuring that everyone at Condobolin PublicSchool is accounted for during an evacuation by signing in and out at the frontoffice.Too EarlyThis week we have had a small number of students arriving at school before 8am.Teachers are not available to supervise children who arrive before 8.40am. For thesafety of your children, please ensure that they do not leave home too early.Boiled Water Alert remains in placePlease provide your child with boiled water or rain water for use at school. Theschool will continue to provide supplementary water.Cont. p.2

YoungLeaders ConferenceJust last weekend, Adrienne, Denis, Myles, Mr Kemp, Miss Richards and Maddi went toSydney to attend the ‘Young Leaders Conference’. It was a really long trip. We talked a lot.We had to use Ms Nay’s car. We had four iPods with head phones that were from theschool set. We liked playing stick cricket the best. Maddi had to take fruit tingles, otherwiseMaddi would have vomited on Adrienne. On our trip to Sydney we stopped at a service station in Orange because Mr Kemp washungry, but he couldn’t find his wallet. Maddi offered him twenty cents that she had foundin the driveway, but he said it was alright. We also had KFC at Lithgow and it was delicious.Mr Kemp bought a dinner feast and we didn’t even get half way through it. When we finallygot to Sydney, Mr Kemp couldn’t find the hotel so he had to make a few phone calls to getdirections. We finally got to the hotel and Miss Richards was complaining because therewas too many stairs. The boys room wasn’t ready when we got to the hotel, so they justdumped their bags in the girls room. After that, we walked to the train station and went to Milsons Point. That was when wewent to Luna Park. It cost us 40 dollars each, but it was worth it. There were lots ofdifferent rides there including The Tango Train, Rotor, Tumble Bug, and heaps more. Ourfavourite was the Wild Mouse. It was a small roller coaster that went up, down, and side toside. After Luna Park, we went for a walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Miss Richardswas complaining about the stairs again. It took us about 20 minutes to cross it and when wegot to the end, there was more stairs, so Miss Richards was complaining, again. After that, we walked to the Circular Quay train station and finally, there were escalators.Miss Richards was so happy about that. It only took about 5 minutes to get from CircularQuay to Central. At the train station, Myles’s brother, Arther came and picked him up to goand see a movie. That was so not fair. Then, we went to China Town for dinner. The people were standing outside of the shopstrying to make us come into their shops and finally we went into a shop because theyoffered us a discount. We ordered 4 plates. They were satay chicken, beef with cashews, honey chicken, fried rice and sweet and sour pork. Mr. Kemp made us eat with chop sticksso we had to ask for a lesson from the waitress. After dinner, we saw an ice-cream shop justa few shops away, so we got an ice cream. We slept well that night because we were really tired. The next day, we had to go to the Young Leaders Conference. Myles and Dennis tookforever to get ready, but in the end they finally got ready. It took forever to get toMcDonalds and it was about a quarter to nine when we got there so we had about 15minutes to get there.

The conference was at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. At the conference, there were 5speakers. Mike Martin, Tom Harley, Ronni Kahn, Ruben Meerman and Anh Do. Anh Do wasreally funny. They spoke of their experiences as leaders and what a leader meant to them.We wrote many ideas down. It was very interesting and we feel that we will benefit asleaders from the conference. When we left, it was about 2:00. It took us a while to get out of Sydney. When we got toParkes, we stopped at McDonalds for dinner. On the way home from Parkes, we played a game where we took it in turns to say ananimal that began with the letter we were given. We had a super trip and would like to thank our teachers for taking us and Ms Nay for hercar.BY:Maddi WallerAdrienne RichardsMyles TaylorDenis Spathis
