Descaling your BrewerMineral content in water varies from place to place.Depending on the mineral content of your water, calciumdeposits or scale may build up in your brewer. Scale is nontoxic but if left unattended can hinder brewer performance.Regularly descaling your brewer every 3-6 months or 500brews helps maintain the heating element, and otherinternal parts that come in contact with water. Calciumdeposits may build up faster, making it necessary to descalemore often.STEP 2:Repeat the brew process without a K-Cup pod at least 10times, pouring the contents of the mug into the sink aftereach cycle.STEP 3:Power off the brewer and drain both hot and cold watertanks. Reconnect the brewer to the filtered cold watersupply to refill the brewer. This brewer is equipped with sensors to detect when scalebuild up is interfering with the performance of the brewer. When this is detected, the brewer will alert you to descale.Power on the brewer and perform several rinse brewsto remove any residual taste from the Keurig DescalingSolution.Descaling ProcedureNOTE: The cleaning action of Keurig Descaling Solution may result in a “foam” dispensedfrom the brewer. This is natural, as the solution is reacting with the scale inside. For abrewer that is heavily scaled, the brewer may not fill properly after the descaler is added. Ifthis occurs, you may see only a small or no output dispensed, followed by the sound of airblowing out. Before you begin, you will need a large ceramic mug, freshwater, a Flojet pump or similar device, Keurig DescalingSolution, and access to a sink. Do not use a paper cup.Ensure that there is no K-Cup pod in the K-Cup pod holder.STEP 1:Disconnect the brewer from the water supply and power itoff. Drain both the hot and cold water tanks. When empty, clip the drain tubes back into place and replace the drainplugs.Power the brewer back on. Connect a Flojet pump system tothe brewer to add Keurig Descaling Solution. After the brewer has heated, place a ceramic mug on thedrip tray and run a brew cycle. When the brew process iscomplete, discard the contents from the mug into the sink.Let the brewer stand for at least one hour.If this occurs: Turn off and unplug the brewer. Plug the brewer back in, power on, and repeat the Step 3 Fresh Water Rinse cycle. Thebrewer should begin to function normally as the solution is rinsed out and the scale isremoved. If problem persists, allow brewer to sit unplugged for at least 30 minutes beforecontinuing with the rinse. For further information on descaling, please contact your Keurig Authorized Distributor.
