2020 Course DescriptionsApplied Lighting for Hubbell Lighting ProductsThis two-day training event will provide a solid foundation for the application of Hubbell Lighting and control products forboth interior and exterior spaces. This will include new construction and retrofit project products. A wide variety of productsare addressed including those used in commercial offices, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, outdoor parking lots andsports fields/arenas. The latest lighting trends are highlighted along with best practice guidelines for interior andexterior spaces.Controls - Product and Systems ApplicationsDuring this two and a half day program, students participate in an interactive approach to real world lighting controlsapplications for interior and exterior spaces. Lecturers provide attendees with details for products and how they areapplied, students take this information and as a group apply products in application and report their recommendations tothe class.Hubbell Lighting Agent Sales Training*During this two - three day course, Hubbell Lighting agents will be trained on our products, services, and selling tools ina hands-on interactive environment. Through hands-on training and real-world applications, we take an interactive approach to educating ourparticipants in general lighting terminology, lamps and ballasts, solid-state lighting technology, light, vision, and color,optical control and basic application principles.Fundamentals of ControlsA great fit for people new to the lighting industry or people who want to refresh their knowledge of controls. This oneday course is focused on the basics of lighting controls. Through this program, participants will gain an understandingof various control solutions including motion sensing, daylight harvesting, panel-based lighting control systems, andwireless lighting control systems. In addition, participants will also be exposed to the current legislation and buildingcodes, such as ASHRAE, IECC, and California’s Title 24, that are changing the controls landscape. At the end of this course,participants should be able to identify opportunities in various applications for a lighting control system, specify the controlrequirements based on the lighting fixture criteria and recommend an appropriate solution based on theapplication requirements.NX Controls - Applications TrainingDuring this one and half day course, students will participate in an interactive approach to controls applications. Instructorswill provide product information, and then show students how to apply products to put together a lighting control solution,develop a sequence of Operation and validate their design. Student will use HCS tools, such as Bluebeam, to createlighting control layouts, take-off quantities for quotations, and produce project submittals.NX Controls - Installation & ProgrammingAttendees of this two-and-a-half-day course will acquire the knowledge and skills required to install, program, operateand maintain an NX distributed intelligent lighting control system. Students will use actual products to simulate sampleproject and learn to configure those systems using the NX mobile application. Topics covered include system design,use case/sequence of operation, installation best practices, detailed start-up, programming procedures/techniquesand troubleshooting for both wired and wireless NX Distributed Intelligence lighting control systems. This course willinclude thebasics of connecting to and using the NXAC Area Controller. This course will not cover in-depth startup andtroubleshooting of networked NX Distributed Intelligent lighting controls systems.Retrofit & Selling EnergyThis two-day class will help attendees understand when to convert from legacy technology to LEDs. A hands-on workshopwill simulate a building audit and show the impact that controls, maintenance, and rebates can have on ROI (Return OnInvestment). Opportunities for future retrofits and forward compatibility will be explored. CEUs will be availablefor attendees.LitePro DLX Design Software WorkshopThis fast-paced workshop is intended for application engineers, lighting specialists, and sales representatives whoprepare lighting design calculations. The LitePro DLX software can be used for both simple lighting calculations as well assophisticated 3D modeling of an illuminated space. In this course you will learn how to deal with architecture as a whole–starting with a rectangular room, moving on to planning a complete floor and then a whole building and its surroundingswhich includes exterior site elements and parking facilities.
