Senior Secondary Education:External Examinations - General Who is eligible to sit for WASSCE? School candidates: must be enrolled in SSC Class 3 (3rdyear of their senior secondary education) Private candidates: those who have taken WASSCE orGCE in previous years; typically not currently enrolled in asecondary school; may have other foreign qualifications What are the components of WASSCE? Two components - continuous assessment from school(30%) and external examinations (70%) Secondary schools submit school assessment forms toWAEC World Education Services. All rights reserved.15

Nigeria: Admission to HigherEducation Organized by the Joint Admissions andMatriculation Board (JAMB) Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE)- Credit passes in at least 5 subjects(including mathematics and English Language) United Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)- Choice of six institutions – 2 universities, 2 polytechnics,2 colleges of education. Exams in English, and 3 subjects relatedto their proposed major. Need a minimum score out of 400 foruniversity admission. Verification – Scratch Cards A scratch card is a plastic card that has ahidden pin number.
