3.0 About this machine and manualThe WACF-3037 Wilton COLD FRONT is designed for areas more than 3,000 square feet. Its hydro-pneumaticsystem atomizes water into very fine particles which evaporate instantly in the high-velocity airstream, reducingthe temperature of the expelled air to create an immediate cooling effect. The absence of conventional pads, andits micro-atomization of the water means lower risk of clogging and less need for maintenance. The low-pressurepump contributes to energy efficiency. This manual covers operation and maintenance procedures for the Wilton COLD FRONT. It contains instructionson setup, safety precautions, general operating procedures, maintenance instructions and service partsinformation. Your machine has been designed and constructed to provide consistent, long-term operation if usedin accordance with the instructions set forth in this document. If there are questions or comments, please contact your local supplier or Wilton. Wilton can also be reached atour web site: www.wiltontools.com. Retain this manual for future reference. If the machine transfers ownership, the manual should accompany it.Register your product online: http://www.wiltontools.comRead and understand the entire contents of this manual before attempting assembly oroperation. If this occurs, immediately turnoff the switches, wait for unit to cool down, then useswitches to restart.6Wilton WACF-3037 Cold FrontTo prevent unauthorized access to GFCIreceptacle, close cover and insert padlock (notprovided) through lock-out holes.6.0 Electrical connectionsAll electrical connections mustbe done by a qualified electrician in compliancewith all local codes and ordinances. Failure tocomply may result in serious injury. The Cooling Fan is rated at 120-volt power only, andis supplied with a plug designed for use on a circuitwith a grounded outlet that looks like the onepictured in Figure 6-1.Before connecting to power source, be sure switchis in off position. It is recommended that the Cooling Fan beconnected to a dedicated 15 amp circuit with circuitbreaker or fuse. Local codes take precedence overrecommendations.6.1 GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONSThis machine must be grounded. In the event of amalfunction or breakdown, grounding provides apath of least resistance for electric current to reducethe risk of electric shock. This tool is equipped withan electric cord having an equipment-groundingconductor and a grounding plug. The plug must beplugged into a matching outlet that is properlyinstalled and grounded in accordance with all localcodes and ordinances.Do not modify the plug provided - if it will not fit theoutlet, have the proper outlet installed by a qualifiedelectrician.

Improper connection of the equipment-groundingconductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Theconductor with insulation having an outer surfacethat is green with or without yellow stripes is theequipment-grounding conductor.depending on cord length and nameplate ampererating. If in doubt, use the next heavier gauge. Thesmaller the gauge number, the heavier the cord.Extension Cord Recommended Gauges (AWG)If repair or replacement of the electric cord or plugis necessary, do not connect the equipmentgrounding conductor to a live terminal.Check with a qualifiedelectrician or service personnel if the groundinginstructions are not completely understood, or ifin doubt as to whether the tool is properlygrounded. Failure to comply may cause seriousor fatal injury.Use only 3-wire extension cords that have 3-pronggrounding plugs and 3-pole receptacles that acceptthe tool's plug.Repair or replaceimmediately.damagedorwornAmps 55 to 88 to 1212 to 1515 to 2021 to 30In Canada, the use of a temporary adaptor is notpermitted by the Canadian Electrical Code, C22.1.Figure 6-16.2 Extension cordsThe use of extension cords is discouraged; try toposition machines near the power source. If anextension cord is necessary, make sure it is in goodcondition. When using an extension cord, be sure touse one heavy enough to carry the current yourproduct will draw. An undersized cord will cause adrop in line voltage resulting in loss of power andoverheating. Table 2 shows correct size to use200feet12NRNRNRNRNR*based on limiting the line voltage drop to 5V at 150%of the rated amperes.NR Not Recommended.Table 2cordThis machine is for use on a nominal 120-V circuit, and has a grounded plug that looks like the plugillustrated in sketch A in Figure 6-1. A temporaryadaptor that looks like the adaptor illustrated insketch B may be used to connect this plug to a 2pole receptacle as shown in sketch B if a properlygrounded outlet is not available. The temporaryadaptor should be used only until a properlygrounded outlet (sketch A) can be installed by aqualified electrician. The green colored rigid ear, lug, or the like extending from the adaptor must beconnected to a permanent ground such as aproperly grounded outlet box cover. Whenever theadaptor is used, it must be held in place by a metalscrew.25feet161614121010Extension cord length *5075100 150feet feet feet NR7.0 User-maintenanceDisconnect (unplug) frompower source before performing any cleaning ormaintenance of the unit, unless indicatedotherwise.7.1 Tools requiredCross-point (Phillips) screwdriverT20 Torx head driver (for pan head screws)T25 Torx head driver (for flat head screws)7.2 General cleaning Do not use solvents or harsh chemicals on thecooling fan when cleaning. vortex tube. The volume of the cold air is called the "cold fraction". Good vortex tube design avoids mixing the cold inner stream (the cold fraction) with the warm or hot outer air stream. If a vortex tube is operating at a high cold fraction, the passage through the center of the generator must be large enough to handle the cold air flow.
