Those feespay for the following: The monthly cost for recordkeeping,communications and other services provided byEmpower Retirement – including the Plan websiteand other online tools, account statements,telephone support and other resources County costs for administering the 457(b) HorizonsPlan and expenses for investment consultants, fiduciaryliability insurance and outside legal counselFor fiscal year 2020-2021, the monthly cost for EmpowerRetirement services will be 2.85 per month, the same asfiscal year 2019-2020.COUNTY OF LOS ANGELESDeferred Compensation and Thrift PlanThe County administrative costs will be 1.00 per month,also the same as fiscal year 2019-2020. The total annualPlan and County administrative fees charged to you forfiscal year 2020-2021 will not exceed 46.20.Fees are a normal part of investing, and most financialservices companies charge fees for similar services. ThePlan Administrative Committee (PAC) uses the combinednegotiating leverage of tens of thousands of 457(b)Horizons Plan participants to keep fees low and highlycompetitive with what you would find in the retail market.That means more of each dollar you contribute stays inyour account to help you build future retirement income.The PAC is also committed to clearly disclosing fees. You’llalways know exactly how much you pay and what you’repaying for.

Theydiscover that they may face a gap between the retirement income they wantand the actual income they can expect. If you find yourself in this situation,try not to panic. The 457(b) Horizons Plan offers some additional ways toincrease your savings up to your retirement: Age 50 catch-up contributions – In the year you reach age 50,the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) raises the limit on how much youcan contribute to your account each year (known as the age50 catch-up contribution). If you qualify, you can contribute anadditional 6,500 in 2020.Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and EconomicSecurity (CARES) Act UpdateRecently, the IRS made revisions to certainCARES Act provisions.Click on the CARES Act and SavingsResources pop-up bulletin on countyla.comfor more information. hree-year catch-up contributions – If you are within threeTcalendar years of normal retirement age, as defined by the Plan,you may be able to contribute even more – up to 39,000 in2020 – with the three-year catch-up provision. Please note: youcannot take advantage of both types of catch-up contributions inthe same calendar year.
