The writtenexam covers minimum competency in generalplumbing knowledge. This includes: The InternationalPlumbing Code (IPC), the general principles ofplumbing, and calculations. The practical exam ishands-on to test the candidate's technical knowledgeand abilities. If you arrive late, ANDthe testing session has already begun, YOU WILL BETURNED AWAY, will forfeit your exam fees, and will berequired to reschedule for a future testing date.Permitted ItemsCandidates are permitted to use the following itemsduring their written or code examinations:ooReference Books. Please refer to the referencelist beneath each examination description forthe books or materials that may be used duringthe test.Calculator. You are permitted to use a simplenon-programmable calculator during your test.The calculator must be silent, battery powered,produce no tape, be non-programmable. Beprepared to show the proctor your calculatorat the time of check-in. You are NOT permittedto use the calculator on your cell phone.For exam security you may also be asked to removearticles of clothing that may pose a security risk such asthe following:oooBulky clothing, scarves, hoodies, shawls, vests,jackets, coats, and so forth.Hats or headgear not associated with religiousreasons.Any other clothing or device that may beinterpreted as having the potential tocompromise the testing process.We ask that you leave all unauthorized materials inyour car or vehicle.If you are caught usingunauthorized materials during testing, these materialswill be confiscated, your testing will be terminated withfees forfeited, and the Division will be notified of yourdismissal from the exam.Visitor PolicyNo one other than the candidate will be allowed in thetesting room. Non-testing visitors are NOT permittedto wait in the lobby while candidates test.Proof of IdentityUpon arriving at the testing center, you will be requiredto show government-issued, photo identification. Thephoto ID must be current and valid. Valid forms ofphoto ID’s are: a state issued driver license, passport,or military ID. You will also be required to sign a testcenter log, and will be photographed by the test centerstaff. Theresults from your practical exam will be mailed to youwithin fifteen (15) days of test completion.The written exam is scored and graded against a cutscore of 70%.The practical exam is scored on a pass/fail basis.
