MODERATOR'S ADDRESSMissionary Baptist Association of TexasNovember, 1982I am most fortunate and happy to be a member of one of our Lord's churches, achurch associating with other New Testament Churches. We are truly blessedthat these churches are privileged to work in a country such as ours, and allowedto come together in a messenger assembly such as this to carryon the assignedwork of our Lord.As I survey the work of the churches of our association as outlined in theScriptures, I find no work assigned to the afore-said association which abridgesthe authority and independency of the New Testament Churches. It is good for churches to work together for when churches isolate themselves, there is danger which brings about self dependence. Whereas, when churches giveover their authori'ty, strength, condescendingly, this would only be patronization. Therefore, it is important that we as New Testament Churches, adhere to the Bibleposition of the local, visible and dependent (upon the Lord) churches, yet, having acommon interest that will further the cause of Christ. Let us continue as anassociation of churches to do the work of an association, in the work of councils,Gal. 2:1-14; Acts 15:1-12; recommendations, as found in Acts 15:19-20;benevolence, which is exemplified by Antioch and the churches of Asia toJerusalem, Acts 11:27-30; Acts 15:25-27; and Missions which can be found in I Cor.8:16-24.And now, may it please the Heavenly Father, that we have come together forgood.-16-
