Additional explanation of fees and costsAccount FeeThe Account Fee only applies to nonVanguard investments (currently, directlyheld ASX listed shares) and is charged byVanguard for performing the functionsas operator of Vanguard Personal Investor,including reporting, custodialand settlement services.The Account Fee does not include anyexpense incurred in acquiring or disposingof investments on your behalf such asbrokerage fees for trading ETFs or directshares. The Account Fee applies for any periodyou hold non-Vanguard investments in yourVanguard Personal Investor Account.If you have insufficient money in yourVanguard Cash Account to pay your AccountFee, we will ask you to top up your VanguardCash Account or we may sell your investmentsto pay for the fee. Please refer to the InvestorGuide for further details.Indirect Cash Management FeeAll amounts in your Vanguard Cash Account areheld in the omnibus accounts at our authoriseddeposit-taking institution. For the currentinterest rate, please refer to the Cash AccountInterest Rate document on our website.The Indirect Cash Management Fee is thedifference between the amount of interestearned on the pooled cash held in the omnibusaccounts at our authorised deposit-takinginstitution and the interest we credit toyour Vanguard Cash Account. Theinvestment returns of each product are netof fees and other costs (including indirectcosts). Some fund managers may be entitledto performance fees in addition to theirmanagement fee. The method for calculatingthe performance fees varies between themanaged funds and the details are included inthe PDS or other disclosure document of therelevant managed fund.Unlisted managed funds may charge investorsan estimate of the transaction costs thatthe fund will incur to buy or sell its underlyingassets. This buy/sell spread is incorporated intothe price paid to purchase or sell units and theamount of the spread accrues to the fund.For further information regarding the fees andother costs for each managed fund, refer tothe PDS or other disclosure document for therelevant managed fund or ETF.Transaction costs deducted from your VanguardPersonal Investor AccountTransaction costs payable in respect of ETFsand directly held ASX listed shares acquiredthrough Vanguard Personal Investor are thebrokerage fees paid at the time of purchase orsale. They are added to the buy or sell value ofany order for ETFs or direct shares. The totalamount is deducted from your Vanguard CashAccount at the time of purchase or sale.There are no transaction costs charged inrespect of depositing or withdrawing moneyin your Vanguard Cash Account or buying orselling managed funds accessed via VanguardPersonal Investor.Transaction costs are an additional cost to youif you trade in ETFs or direct shares, and arenot recovered under a buy/sell spread as thereis no buy/sell spread charged in respect ofVanguard Personal Investor.10
