PORT POLICE OFFICERPort of Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA) is currently seeking alert andcommitted Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)Certified Peace Officers to join our law enforcement team at thePCCA Police Department (PPD). PPD is committed to servicing andprotecting PCCA tenants, customers, employees, visitors, and PCCAproperty.Under the supervision of a PPD Police Sergeant, PCCA Certified Peace Officers are responsible for theenforcement of laws and the protection of life and property within the jurisdiction of PCCA. The PPDutilizes certified Texas peace officers, port employed & contract security officers, land and marinepatrols, video surveillance, and physical barriers to provide for the safe, secure and efficient flow ofcommerce through PCCA.THE PORT POLICE OFFICER:Enforces and complies with applicable Federaland State laws, including, but not limited to,Texas Penal Code and Code of CriminalProcedure, PCCA Ordinances and TariffsCoordinates with Local, State and Federal lawenforcement agenciesPatrols PCCA property by foot, vehicle and vesselas needed and periodically conducts vehicular,vessel, and cargo searchesProvides assistance and guidance to PCCA andContract Security Officers concerning all aspectsof port security, particularly access controlprocedures and screening of personnelrequesting access to PCCAPromptly and appropriately responds to crimes inprogress or dispatched calls; engages inapprehension, detention and arrest of individualsin a professional mannerPlans, organizes and conducts variety of criminalinvestigative and analytical assignments withsupervisory approval, including but not limited to,analyzingallegations,recommendinginvestigative resources and collateral support,investigating allegations of crimes, crime scenes,and misconduct; conducting interviews, collectingevidence, conducting employee/ applicantbackground investigations and periodic updates,planning and conducting surveillance andundercover work, arresting violators of State andU.S. laws, conducting searches and seizuresincident to the arrest or by warrantPrepare reports and present findings orally and inwriting to managers, prosecutors, and other highlevel officials; testify as a government witnessbefore Grand Juries and in courts regardingcriminal cases and at administrative hearings innon-criminal cases as necessary and withsupervisory approvalCommunicates effectively with the general public,PCC employees, tenants, vendors and those whohave official business on PCCA propertyAdheres to PCCA policy, including departmentstandard operating procedures, maintains goodemployee relations, competence, professionalismand ethical standards both on and off-dutyFollows proper safety precautions when operatingvehicles, vessels, equipment, materials andweaponsPrepares reports, letters and correspondence in anaccurate,comprehensible,and professionalmanner maintaining confidentialityAttends mandatory PCCA training/testing in 33 CFR105 and training in ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 andadheres to and stays abreast of the contentsthereof. Prepares and executes Declarations ofSecurityWorks varying schedules to include a schedule of12-hour rotating shifts, 4 days on and 4 days offincluding nights, weekends and holidays and24/7/365 call in for special needs or emergencies.Functions in pre-and post-disaster preparedness as aTier 1 employeewww.portofcc.com2

CANDIDATE PROFILEThe preferred candidate for this position should be a disciplined, perceptive law enforcementofficer, expected to possess exceptional work ethic and integrity, and ability to communicateeffectively with the public, PCCA stakeholders, and staff. He/she must be available to work varyingschedules of 12-hour rotating shifts (4 days on/4 days off, including nights, weekends andholidays) and on-call duty. The successful candidate for this position must be willing to undergo abackground investigation, a credit report inquiry, and post-offer physical and psychologicalevaluation, as well as post-offer and random drug testing. He/she must possess:ESSENTIAL SKILLS:High school diploma or GEDCertification by TCOLE as Texas Peace OfficerValid driver’s license and good driving record (mustnot have received any traffic citations or beeninvolved in any chargeable traffic accidents in thepast two years)Eligible to obtain a Transportation WorkerIdentification Card (TWIC) in accordance with 33 CFR101.514 (TWIC Requirement) for access to restrictedareas utilizing TWIC credentials; disqualifyingbackground criteria for TWIC provided in 49 CFR1572Must obtain and maintain current CPR certificationwith the use of AEDMinimum four years full-time police officer oracceptable equivalent experience» Working knowledge of the Texas Penal Code andCode of Criminal Procedure» Adept with pistol, shotgun, rifle and at operatinga motor vehicle» Knowledgeable of TCOLE Rules and Regulations,Instructor Certificate preferred» Knowledgeable of the Chemical Facility AntiTerrorism Standard (CFATS) preferred» Familiar with the inner workings of relevantagencies preferredProficiency with a personal computer and officeequipment» Ability to complete accurate, concise written reports,to read and understand policies, rules, regulations,instructions, laws and law enforcement literature» Effective collaboration, partnership and problem-solvingskills; ability to foster cooperative working relationshipswith and among federal, state, local and private industrypartners» Demonstrated proficiency of the English language;effective verbal and written communication skills; oral andwritten proficiency in the Spanish language preferred» Ability to fit well within an energetic and dedicated teamand be responsive/responsible to supervision» Must possess self-control, tact, good judgment,emotional and mental stability; must be reliable,trustworthy, dependable and maintain a goodattendance and on-time record» Customer service orientedAbility to respond physically and verbally to physicalencounters and attacks and pursue and apprehendassailants on foot or by vehicle, encounter physicaldanger and hazards associated with protecting personsand PCC property» Ability to perform essential job functions, including butnot limited to, standing, walking, reaching, grabbing,grasping, stooping, kneeling, twisting, squatting,crouching, crawling, lifting, dragging, pulling and pushingvarying amounts of weights, with or without reasonableaccommodation» Communicating verbally, in writing, and over devicessuch as the phone, radios, and walkie- talkies» Maintaining balance in adverse conditions, includingwhile underway in patrol boat, rough waters, sudden andabrupt up and down, side to side motions» Work in both general office environment and extremeand adverse hot/cold/wet weather conditions, and PCCassociated fumes and/or airborne particles, andmoderate noise levels» Operate light-weight highway vehicles and body-worncameraswww.portofcc.com3
