These limited warranties give you specificlegal rights. You may also have other rights that vary from state to state.For example, you may have some implied warranties, depending on the statewhere your vehicle was sold or is registered.These implied warranties are limited, to the extent allowed by law, to the timeperiods covered by the express written warranties contained in this booklet.If you use your vehicle primarily for business or commercial purposes, thenthese implied warranties do not apply and MBUSA completely disclaims themto the extent allowed by law. Items Covered by Other WarrantiesThe subsequent pages of this Service andWarranty Information booklet describesome service requirements and thewarranties you receive as an owner.Your vehicle is covered under the termsof these “Warranties” and your nearestauthorized Mercedes-Benz Dealership willexchange or repair any defective partsin accordance with the terms of suchwarranties within stated limits.The following are covered by separatewarranties offered by their makers. Theyare not covered by the Basic LimitedWarranty:Please keep this booklet together with theOperator’s Manual, Maintenance Bookletand other documents concerning yourvehicle so that future owners will haveaccess to this literature if you should sellthe vehicle.B. What’s CoveredThe New Vehicle Limited Warrantywarrants to the original and eachsubsequent owner of a new Sprintervehicle that any authorized MercedesBenz Dealership will make any repairsor replacements necessary to correctdefects in material or workmanshiparising during the warranty period.ANY AUTHORIZED MERCEDES-BENZDEALERSHIP: Any authorized MercedesBenz Dealership of the owner’s choice willperform warranty repairs or replacements.The vehicle should be delivered to anauthorized Mercedes-Benz Dealershipduring normal service hours. A reasonabletime should be allowed after taking thevehicle to an authorized Mercedes-BenzDealership for performance of the repair. tires; oritems added or changed afteryour Sprinter vehicle left themanufacturing plant, such asaccessories or protection products,or items changed because ofcustomization or van conversion(except Genuine Mercedes-Benzaccessories designed for Sprinter,and installed by an authorizedMercedes-Benz Dealership). Towing Costs Are Covered UnderCertain CircumstancesThe New Vehicle Limited Warranty, theDiesel Engine Limited Warranty, and theSpare Parts Warranty cover the costof towing your vehicle to the nearestauthorized Mercedes-Benz Dealershipif your vehicle cannot be drivenbecause a covered part has failed, see(e Page 26).

10What’s CoveredCorrosion WarrantyService and WarrantyA. What’s CoveredThis corrosion warranty covers the costof all parts and labor needed to repair orreplace any sheet metal panels that getholes from rust or other corrosion. If ahole occurs because of something otherthan corrosion, this corrosion warrantydoes not apply. Cosmetic or surfacecorrosion - resulting, for example, fromstonechips or scratches in the paint - isnot covered. For more details on what isnot covered by this corrosion warranty,see (e Page 12).B. How Long It LastsThe Corrosion limited warranty startswhen your New Vehicle Limited Warrantybegins, see (e Page 6). This limitedwarranty has two time-and-mileage limits: For sheet metal panels, the limit is36 months, with no mileage limit.For an outer-body sheet metalpanel-one that is finish-painted andthat someone can see when walkingaround the vehicle - the limits are5 years or 100,000 miles on theodometer, whichever occurs first.Restraint System Limited Warranty(Vehicles sold and registered in theState of Kansas only)For vehicles sold and registered in theState of Kansas, seatbelts and relatedseatbelt components are warrantedagainst defects in workmanship andmaterials for 10 years, regardless ofmileage. This limited warranty does notcover replacement of seatbelts andrelated components required as the resultof collision.

What’s Not Covered11TIRE AND RIM DAMAGE: Damageto the tires such as punctures, cuts,snags, bruises, impact damage andbreaks resulting from pothole impact,curb impact, or from other objects/road hazards is not covered. Damagefrom incorrect inflation, excessive axleload, high speed spinning (when stuckin ice, mud or snow), tire chains, racingor competitive driving events, incorrectmounting or demounting, improperpuncture repair, misuse, negligence,alteration and misapplication is notcovered. Rapid or irregular tire tread weardue to lack of tire rotation according tothe recommended intervals specified inyour vehicle‘s maintenance booklet orincorrect wheel alignment or tire balanceis not covered. Tire tread wear is also notcovered.Damage to the rims resulting frompothole impact, curb impact, or fromother objects/road hazards is notcovered.WHEEL ALIGNMENT: Adjustments forroad crown issues are not covered.BRAKE PADS AND DISCS: Replacementdue to normal wear or as part of regularmaintenance is not covered.WIPER BLADES AND INSERTS: Damagedor worn wiper blades and wiper bladeinserts are not covered.DAMAGE DUE TO ACCIDENTS, MISUSEOR NEGLIGENCE: Accidents or damagefrom objects striking the vehicle. Misuseof the vehicle such as driving into or overpotholes, curbs, or other objects/roadhazards; overloading, improper operation,storage or transport (Proper use isdescribed in the Operator’s Manual).DAMAGE DUE TO LACK OFMAINTENANCE: Lack of propermaintenance as described in theMaintenance Booklet. Use of serviceparts or fluids, such as paper oil filtersor improper engine oil, which are nonapproved by MBUSA, will cause enginedamage not covered by the warranty.NORMAL MAINTENANCE IS OWNER’SRESPONSIBILITY: Cleaning and polishing,fluids and filters, replacing worn wiperblades, wiper rubber inserts, brakepads and discs, and clutch discs andpressure plates are some of the normalmaintenance services required andare not covered by this warranty. SeeMaintenance Booklet for details.Damage caused by the use of improperfilters (including oil filters), engine oils,fluids, cleaners, polishes, or waxes is notcovered.Service and WarrantyItems Which Are Not Covered:

12What’s Not CoveredService and WarrantyItems Which Are Not Covered: (cont’d)DAMAGE DUE TO ALTERATIONS:Alterations by changing or adding tothe vehicle can adversely affect itsperformance, reliability and longevity andare not covered by this warranty.DAMAGE CAUSED BY REPAIR PARTSAND MISFUELING: MBUSA stronglywarns against the introduction of fuelswith an anti-knock index less than87 octane or ethanol blends greater thanE10 in non flex-fuel capable gasolineengine equipped vehicles, and invehicles equipped with a diesel engine,strongly warns against the introductionof biodiesel blends greater than B5.Malfunctions caused by the use of otherthan Genuine Mercedes-Benz parts andaccessories and damages or malfunctionsresulting from incorrect fuel usage, poorfuel quality (including biodiesel blendsnot meeting ASTM D6751 or EN590quality standards) or from blendingadditional fuel additives other than thoseexpressly approved for use in exceptionalcircumstances (see vehicle operator’smanual) by MBUSA are not covered.DAMAGE CAUSED BY IMPROPER BODYREPAIRS: Damage or malfunctionscaused by body repairs not performedin accordance with Mercedes-Benzspecified repair procedures or otherwiseimproperly performed are not covered bythis warranty.ALTERED ODOMETER: No warrantycoverage shall apply to any vehicle onwhich the odometer has been altered andthe actual mileage cannot be determined.DAMAGE FROM THE ENVIRONMENT:Parts made from cloth or leather(upholstery, convertible tops, trim items),wood, paint or chrome which have beenaffected by airborne fallout, such aschemical and tree sap, or by road salt,hail, windstorm or other environmentalfactors are not covered by this warranty.DAMAGE TO GLASS: Glass breakage orscratches are not covered unless positivephysical proof of a manufacturing defectcan be established.EXTRA EXPENSES: This warranty doesnot cover payment for loss of use ofthe vehicle during warranty repairs norlodging bills, substitute transportationrentals, or other travel costs, telephonecalls, loss of pay, or other economic lossor consequential damages.CHANGES IN DESIGN: The manufacturerhas reserved the right to make anychanges in design or to make additionsto, or upon its products without incurringany obligations to install the sameequipment on motor vehicles previouslybuilt.

What’s Not Covered13RACING OR COMPETITIVE EVENTS: Thiswarranty does not cover the costs ofrepairing damage or conditions causedby racing, nor does it cover the repair ofany defects that are found as the result ofparticipating in a racing event.DAMAGE TO INTERIOR SURFACES:Damage to finished interior surfacessuch as upholstery, wood, leather,suede, plastic, chrome, glass, rug, andpaint caused by external influence,misuse, or negligence is not covered.Some examples include, but are notlimited to, spills, chafe marks, scratches,and impressions from heavy objectsor clamping force (such as a strap ormounting device). Damage from theuse of third party accessories such assteering wheel locks or vent-mounted airfresheners is also not covered.Insurance Write-Off; or Repaired orReplaced PartsAny vehicle which has been damaged tosuch an extent that the owner, insurer,financing institution or leasing companydetermined the vehicle to be a “totalloss”, “write off” or equivalent, is notcovered by this warranty. This includesbut is not limited to vehicles issued a“salvage”, “scrap”, “dismantled” orsimilar title under any state’s law.Any parts repaired or replaced under aninsurance claim or required as a resultof events which are not covered underthis warranty (see “Items Which Are NotCovered”, (e Page 11)), for example,damages due to accidents, misuse,or negligence, and in either case, anysubsequent consequential damage to thevehicle are not covered by this warranty.Restricted WarrantyYour warranties can also be restricted byMBUSA.Accordingly, MBUSA may restrict thewarranty on your vehicle if the vehicle isnot properly maintained, or if the vehicleis abused or neglected, and the abuseor neglect interferes with the properfunctioning of the vehicle. If the warrantyis restricted, coverage may be denied orsubject to approval by MBUSA beforecovered repairs are performed.Service and WarrantyItems Which Are Not Covered: (cont’d)

Service and Warranty14Other Terms of Your WarrantiesExchanged Parts May Be Used inWarranty RepairsPre-Delivery ServiceIn the interest of customer satisfaction,MBUSA may offer exchange serviceon some vehicle parts. This serviceis intended to reduce the amount oftime your vehicle is not available foryour use because of repairs. Partsused in exchange service may be new,remanufactured, reconditioned, orrepaired, depending on the part involved.A defect in or damage to the mechanical,electrical, sheet-metal, paint, trim, andother components of your vehicle mayhave occurred at the factory or whileit was being shipped to the authorizedMercedes-Benz Dealership.All exchange parts that might be usedmeet new parts standards and have thesame limited warranties.Examples of the kinds of parts that mightbe serviced in this way are: engine assemblies;transmission assemblies;instrument cluster assemblies;radios, CD players;speedometers; andpowertrain control modules.To help control suspected ozonedepleting agents, the EPA requiresthe capture, purification, and reuse ofautomotive air conditioning refrigerantgases. As a result, a repair to the sealedportion of your air conditioning systemmay involve the installation of purifiedreclaimed refrigerant.Such a defect or damage is usuallydetected and corrected at the factory.In addition, authorized Mercedes-BenzDealerships must inspect each vehiclebefore delivery. They repair any defectsor damage detected before the vehicle isdelivered to you.Production ChangesChanges may be made in vehicles sold bythe vehicle distributor and its authorizedMercedes-Benz Dealerships at any timewithout incurring any obligation to makethe same or similar changes on vehiclespreviously built or sold.
