President’s Message from the Guild’s Co-PresidentsDavid Levy and Barbara Russodlevy1939@gmail.combargraphx@comcast.netIt is with heavy hearts that we send out this message. Two Guild Exhibiting Members recently passed away:Miguel Figueras and Bob O'Keefe.Cuban born Miguel was a Pointillist who exhibited with us for several years. With a strong humanitarian and spiritualmessage, Miguel was also quite fond of representing the female nude. He always managed to find a way to come to ourreceptions in spite of his having no car, and he so enjoyed them, speaking to other artists and reveling in the moment.Bob O'Keefe was a stained glass artist without peer, who was one of the core volunteers at the Guild. He was a"rock" for us, and helped to shop for reception food and set up for these events. For years, he and his spouse Mary havehandled those chores in addition to hanging exhibits every month.Bob was a straight shooter. You never had to wonder about his position on anything. And he just might give it toyou without your asking! He also was a go-to guy when items needed fixing with a great aesthetic. His family hasconfirmed that donations in Bob's memory should be made out to the Guild of Creative Art.On a happier note, our Grant Committee has just finished an application for a Capital Improvement Grant of 99,750 to renovate the studio completely: New walls, floor, sink, lighting, and built-in storage units etc. which will totallytransform that space for classes, workshops, and receptions. Thanks to Bob Stetz, Audrey Lombardi, and Vicky andDuncan Culver. We could not have done this without your help! Fingers crossed for this grant! The Board has decided that we can have a live reception on March 6 th for EyeSights so look for the details here inthe Bulletin, on the website, on Social Media and in a future Art News. EyeSights is one of our signature events and weare pleased that we can celebrate this amazing exhibit at the Guild.A special shout out goes to Bill Alcaro for his wonderful handling of our Art Galleries Online. Truly impressive, Bill. When we could not stage live shows, this platform was a lifeline. Now it is a precious complement to those live offerings. Thanks also to our Webmasters, Mike Menendez and Steve Ravner for their involvement.Have you enjoyed our Guild Facebook page? Our Instagram? Guild Associate member, volunteer andphotographer Jill Kaiser is responsible for those. You fly under the radar sometimes, Jill, but you are so appreciated foryour hard work.Four in person Guild classes have resumed and our membership continues to rise; both are strong indicators thatwe are slowly coming back to full strength. Thanks to all of you who have renewed your membership, volunteered, donated, and exhibited with us. The newyear reminds us that it is the time to renew membership dues.
