Indiana State Office of GAL/CASAINDIANA SUPREME COURT INDIANA OFFICE OF COURT SERVICESEstablished in 1990, the State Office certifies and provides training and support to localGAL/CASA volunteer programs. GAL/CASA volunteers and staff spend time with childreninvolved in child abuse and neglect proceedings (CHINS cases) and provide child-focusedrecommendations to the court about what is in the child/ren’s best interests.General Summary of Indiana’s GAL/CASA Volunteer Programs in 2021 Certified GAL/CASA volunteer programs in 88 of our 92 counties4,020 active volunteers advocated for children involved in 23,290 CHINS cases600 new volunteers were trained in 2021, spending nearly 18,800 hours in initial training“CASA is the keeper of the child’s story.” - Judge Dana Kenworthy, Grant CountyUpdated 10/28/2022

2022 GAL/CASA Advisory Commission CommitteesThe State Conference/TrainingCommitteeThis committee actively works with the StateOffice to plan and implement the annualstate conference. Committee memberssuggest and help secure guest speakers forthe conference. Committee members alsoassist the night before and day of theconference to assure the event runs assmoothly as possible. This committee alsohelps plan regional trainings by suggestingtopics and securing meeting places andspeakers.The committee makes recommendationsregarding the State Office education andtraining programs.
