Jabber Installation Already installed? Skip this page. Not sure if Jabber is installed? 1. Click Start. 2. Look for Cisco Jabber. If you find it, click the Jabber icon. If you don’t find it, 1. Click Start 2. Select Control Panel 3. Click “Run Advertised Programs” 4. Click Ciso Systems, Inc Cisco Jabber 5. Click Run. 6. Enter the settings seen here à 7. Click Save.

Presence Cisco Presence displays the availability of your contacts. Jabber users can change their availability status. To change your availability: 1. Click the drop-down list to the right of your name in the Jabber console. 2. Select the appropriate status.

Searching/Adding Jabber Users to Contact List To search and add other Jabber users: 1. Type the last name of the user in the search area. 2. When you find the person, click on the “ ” sign 3. A!er adding the user, change the label to the person’s name to see their name when they call you. 4.Optional: Add the contact to an existing group or create a new group by clicking the New group button and add the new contact to that group.

Instant Messaging – 1:1 Chat Allows one-on-one secure instant messaging between Jabber users To chat: 1. Double-click on an “Available” user from your Contacts List. A new window appears. 2. Enter your chat text in the field provided. Note: During a chat, you have the option to transfer files, send a screen capture, change fonts, and use emoticons.

Instant Messaging – Group Chat By adding more online Jabber users, 1:1 chats can become group chats. 1. With an active 1:1 chat, click the icon. 2. In the People field, enter the name of the online Jabber user and click Invite. When the new user joins, a group chat window appears.

Screen Capture In a 1:1 or group chat, Jabber users can send a screen shot to another user or group of users. With an active 1:1 or group chat, click on the button to capture and share the screen capture

File Sharing In a 1:1 or group chat session, a Jabber user can send a file attachment to one or more Jabber users Click on the button and navigate to select the file to share

Screen/Desktop Sharing Screen/desktop sharing feature provides the ability to share a user’s desktop with another upon authorization from the first user. With an active chat session, click on the to enable the screen/desktop sharing feature

Update your contact information listed in Jabber 1. Launch Internet Explorer and go to webmail.stanfordmed.org 2. Log in using your SID and password and click on the Sign In button Format: enterprise\SID 3. If this is a PC you use o!en (not a publicly shared PC), select This is a private computer 4.
