Twelve lady Pelicans always enjoy our monthly Bunco night out. I also heard the Pelicans Ladies are Reporter:Vickie Sullivan planning a fun evening out at the Broadway Palm to see Menopause the Musical. Darn, I really like that play and won’t be able to attend. And as always, our monthly potluck in July will be a 4 th of July pool and fireworks extravaganza at Bob and Barb’s. Well, that about does it for this month’s news, so until Well, it's official summer is here and it is hot and steamy. Coming from Texas, I can take the heat but this humidity. next time See you around the Cape!!! July/Aug 2014: They say you will get used to it but THEY didn't say how long it will take. The Gulls have been enjoying all the NRC activities and more. LuAnne, Loretta, Janis, Nancy, Linda and Vickie enjoyed the Ladies Luncheon at Stevie Tomatoes. Nancy won two raffle prizes. Way to go Nancy. Our May Pot Luck was hosted by Jill and John. John fried some turkeys for us and they were delish. We enjoyed Cocktails on the Cape at Monarca's. Attendees included Jill, John, Janis, John, Barb, Mike, Lori, LuAnne, Mike, Sully and Vickie. We had 11 Gulls that attended the Jun General Membership Meeting. A flock of Gulls enjoyed dinner and Menopause the Musical at the Broadway Palm--Barb, Mike, Jill, John, Gordon, Pam, Lori, Lori's sister Mickey, LuAnne, Mike, Sully and Vickie. Loretta and Liz also attended. It was hilarious. Unfortunately, most of the ladies in attendance could relate. Our Jun pot luck was hosted by Ray and Nancy who made some wonderful mango salsa. They also offered (okay so they begged) everyone to take some mangoes as their tree SEPT 2014 CAPE ESCAPES Reporter: Diane Kenney Rain, rain go away, Come again another day! Not really, I do love rain - either playing golf in it (which did this week since we were already out playing on the course), splashing in puddles or sitting inside or on your lanai watching it fall. I'm also looking forward to our gorgeous summer electrical storms. Not everyone may enjoy them as much as I, but I also am used to watching tornadoes sweep across Oklahoma. Always an impressive sight if it leaves your home, family and friends alone. Did the rain and storms stay away for the Kenney's Cook Out with Burgers & Brats on Fathers' Day weekend? Nice to have friends to be with when you can't be with your 14

Our Ladies Tops Down group are planning an invasion to Sun Splash in Jun. Watch out here we come. We have some folks that are travelling this summer and we wish them a safe and wonderful trip and look forward to you coming back. Remember GULLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN. NOV/DEC 2014 Palmetto bugs, which can FLY, and are the size a Prius!. Next month I will bring you some of my favorite Florida’s Billboard Top 40 of crazy. But now, on to Bratz business. John H’s surgery was a success, and he is up home recuperating. Corrine L. is also home now, and doing really well! John and Angie Rall hosted a wonderful June potluck and July’s will be at Tom Reiser’s. July birthdays are Corrine Larson, Jim Martin, Mike Maxwell, Tom Reiser, Mark Griswold ,and Ann Cook. Our snowbirds have absconded to the north, but we pelicans will forge ahead, and do as best we can, as we lounge by the pool, cold drink in hand, soaking up the sunshine. Stay Fab-u lous, Bratz! BEACH BRATZ JANUARY 2015 Reporter: Babz Maxwell CORKSCREWERS Reporter: Leslie Vaughan Wow, did I hit a nerve last month when I whined about the local drivers! I could have written a book on your own horror stories, but I’m pretty certain, you prefer to know what I think. And I think we need to dig deeper and look at the pervasive mental state of Floridians which in general, would be crazy. Bath salt crazy. 3 AM Wal Mart crazy. Here’s the deal: We Floridians spend the year round basking in sunshine on the beach, boating and fishing, and just generally cavorting about in minimal but brightly clad attire. Up north, you spend 5 months digging out of snowbanks, only to arrive at Spring, with all it’s copious rains, and allergies. Glorious summer arrives, but you’ve barely got the boat out and the pool chemicals balanced, when it’s time to cover it all up again, because fall is here, and you’ve got leaves to rake, and dead garden plants to compost. So to defend their plight and motives for staying up THERE, they feel justified in defaming US. Jealousy rears its ugly head when our state’s citizens are referred to as lawless, politically corrupt, drug dealing, gun-totin’, exhibitionist suicide-driving, senile old codgers. (And just for the record, I’m from Illinois, where the last 2 governors are in prison and Obama’s senate seat was offered up for sale, so don’t tell ME about corrupt!) Anyhow, back to Florida: let’s toss together a mix of tourists, immigrants, and snowbirds, a smattering of rednecks and crackers, a healthy dose of heat and humidity, and just a dash of hurricane, and you have ground zero for crazy. We can’t help it. It’s the time of year we claim our state bird is the mosquito. Looking around, it appears we pledge allegiance to Tommy Bahama and G
