Routine maintenance Vacuum cleaning procedures. Equipment and supplies Tools you will need: 1 Put on any appropriate protective equipment when using chemicals, as stated on the product label and MSDS. 2 Post “Wet Floor” signs to block off area. 3 Pick up light trash from carpet. 4 Vacuum the carpet thoroughly. Start in low traffic areas to give absorbent compound time to work. Vacuum until all the compound is picked up. Use daily for best results. 5 Use an attachment to clean hard-to-reach areas. Vacuum along baseboards, next-to-heavy furniture and behind doors. 6 When finished, remove any signs and replace all mats. Personal protection equipment (PPE) — safety glasses and disposable gloves “Wet Floor” signs Broom and dust pan Vacuum cleaner Extra vacuum bags and belts Vacuum cleaning tips 1. Maintain your vacuum cleaner for strong performance and safety. 2. Never unplug the vacuum by pulling on the cord. Unplug by grasping the plug. Always wind cord starting at vacuum and work back towards plug. 3. Don’t try to vacuum up wet spills with your standard upright equipment. Wet spills can be an electrical hazard. 4. Carpet has a “direction,” called the lay. Raising the nap and standing up the fibers with a capet rake improves appearance. 3

Routine maintenance Carpet spotting procedures. Equipment and supplies 1 Put on appropriate personal protective equipment, as stated on the product label and MSDS. 2 Post “Wet Floor” signs to block off area. 3 Pick up large debris from carpet. 4 Test the spotter in an inconspicuous place. Apply spotter and cover with a clean, white cloth. After 5–7 minutes, check the cloth for color. 5 Apply spotter to the outside edges of the spot. Do not over saturate carpet. 6 Agitate with a bone scraper. Use a bone scraper and work solution towards the middle of the spot. Agitation helps loosen larger soils. Don’t spread the spot by scrubbing with a sponge. 7 Allow the spotter to remain on the spot according to label directions (usually 2–3 minutes) and blot the treated area with a clean, white terry cloth. Continue blotting until no more soils come up into the cloth. 8 Rinse the treated area with cool water and blot or extract. Note: use odor control product in Extractor Solution Tank. Tools you will need: Personal protection equipment (PPE) — safety glasses and disposable gloves “Wet Floor” signs White cloth Bone scraper Suggested cleaning chemicals SE62 – Carpet cleaner SE63 – Odor eliminator SE64 – Neutral all-purpose cleaner SE67 – Carpet spotter 4

Interim maintenance Prespray procedures. Equipment and supplies Tools you will need: 1 Put on appropriate personal protective equipment, as stated on the product label. 2 Vacuum and roll up walk-off mats. Store mats out of the way. Vacuum carpet thoroughly. 3 Remove large debris from carpet. Move light or moveable furniture. Place foil under heavy legs. Use safe lifting methods. 4 Prepare your prespray detergent solution. Dispense premixed chemical into sprayer. 5 Post “Wet Floor” signs to block off area. 6 Prespray the area to be cleaned. Pay special attention to high traffic or heavily soiled areas. Don’t saturate carpet. Avoid overspray onto walls and furniture. Spray so carpet is consistently wet. 7 Allow prespray to remain on the carpet for 3–5 mnutes. Don’t spray too big of an area. Don’t let prespray dry. 8 Rinse and store your equipment. Restorative maintenance Carpet extraction procedures. Extracting tips 1. Schedule carpet extraction on a regular basis according to conditions or specific areas: Heavy soil: Every 1–3 months or as required. Medium soil: Every 4–6 months or as required. Light soil: Every 12–24 months or as required. 2. If the extractor appears slow in recovering solution, check exterior hoses for tight connections or leaks. Check internal filters for plugs that can reduce vacuum pressure. 3. If solution is not being delivered to the carpet, it may be caused by: Hard water buildup plugging in the solution spray valves. If this happens, clean with neutral cleaner and rinse. 9 Prespray the carpet. Work in manageable sections. Allow the prespray to work for 10–15 minutes. 10 Extract the carpet. Follow equipment manufacturer’s instructions. Extract in overlapping paths, pulling the machine back towards you. Make a second “dry” pass without dispensing. Collect as much moisture as possible. 11 Empty the recovery tank when full. Refill the solution tank. If foam collects in recovery tank, add an antifoam agent. Complete the procedure until the entire carpet is clean. 12 Dry the carpet with a carpet fan. To speed drying, turn up HVAC or open doors and windows. 13 Raise the carpet nap. Finish the job with a vacuum cleaner or carpet rake after carpet. 14 Remove “Wet Floor” signs or other blockades after the carpet is dry. Valves may be plugged by carpet fiber. Inspect and clean. An empty solution tank that needs a refill. 4. Setting the pile with a carpet rake will help the drying process. 5. Check the vacuum power of your equipment. 10 15 Clean your equipment and return it to its proper location. Rinse extractor solution and recovery tanks. Rinse filters and hoses. Wash under shrouds; leave open to dry. 16 Replace walk-off mats. Check backs of mats to make sure they are clean and dry. Never cover wet carpeting with a mat.

Upholstery and fabric cleaning Cleaning procedures. Equipment and supplies Tools you will need: 1 Put on appropriate personal protective equipment, as stated on the product label and MSDS 2 Prepare your extraction or rinse solution. Fill solution tank with cold water. Use odor eliminator in extractor tank if odor control is needed. 3 Place a waterproof drop cloth under the upholstered chair or sofa being cleaned. 4 Vacuum the furniture thoroughly. Use an attachment for hard-to-reach spots. Be careful not to scratch wood or metal surfaces. 5 Select the spotter. Inspect for spots and stains. Select the right spotter for the job by checking the spotter in an inconspicuous area. Always check for colorfastness. 6 Spot clean fabrics. Apply spotter to a clean, white, terry towel. Blot the spot, working from the outside edges toward the center of the spot. Rinse with an extractor or damp, white, terry cloth. 7 Clean cushions with the extractor. Do not over saturate. After cleaning, place two cushions in an “A” position for drying. Place a piece of white paper between cushions to avoid color transfer or browning. 8 Clean the top and inside arms, front, kickboard, outside arms and outside back. Work from dirtiest to cleanest areas, bottom to top.
