Dear friends, W hile 2020 will go down in history as a year of immense hardships and challenges, at Bridge Communities, we’ve been reflecting on the takeaways of the past year. There has been adaptation and adjustment. There has been opportunity and courage. There has been perseverance and pivots. And above all, there has been untold, quiet resilience. We’ve been humbled and honored to witness the remarkable strength and resilience of everyone connected to Bridge: our families, our volunteers, our staff, our community partners and our supporters. And in these challenging times, your unwavering support has meant a safe, stable home for 110 families who were experiencing homelessness in DuPage County. Not only that, it’s meant all the wraparound services that the families at Bridge need to make it through these difficult times: caring case managers and mentors; continued access to food and basic services; critical employment services to help families get back on their feet from the worst unemployment year of record; mental health counseling to navigate these tough times; programs for children to help them through the most challenging school year ever; and so much more. This is all made possible because of you. We’ll continue to dig deep, guided by our trust in each other and the faith that better days will come. Responding to Technology Needs Like millions of families worldwide, many Bridge families pivoted to remote work and school due to the pandemic. And your support ensured that they had the technology they needed to keep them online, on track in school and safely employed. 18 families received complete tech packages, including a laptop, printer, cables, toner and paper ( 1,200 value) 11 additional families received laptops ( 825 value) “I ’m really grateful for this laptop. Since the pandemic began, everything is online and I could only use my phone, which wasn’t the best situation. I’m so happy now!” I’m so happy now 7 additional families received printers ( 175 value) 16 children received home study spaces to assist with remote learning, including headphones, tablets, desks and more All 22 Bridge apartment buildings were equipped with wireless access points in all apartments, ensuring reliable, strong, high-speed internet

Employment & Adult Education: A Path to Self-Sufficiency 57 clients attended employment readiness workshops, one-on-one counseling, resume development, and more 39 clients landed 40 full-time jobs and 14 clients landed 18 part-time jobs 95% of the 29 clients that participated in 4 Weeks To Success workshop endorsed it as high quality and 86% endorsed it as useful for career development 7 clients participated in ELL/GED classes 33 adult students were enrolled in college courses or vocational training, 3 earned college degrees and 2 earned professional certifications 19 clients received professional attire and styling at our Bridge Clothing Boutique. MEDIAN MONTHLY INCOME 3,000 For clients who exited Bridge in 2020, their median monthly income increased from 2,382 at their entry to 2,860 at their exit—an increase of more than 20%! 2,500 2,000 2,382 2,860 Bridge quickly and deftly pivoted to move all employment services online: job readiness classes, mock interviewing, assistance with unemployment claims and more. Thanks to the employment team’s expertise and support, Bridge families’ unemployment rate went from a peak of 43% in the spring back down to 6% by the end of the year. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, your support still led to needed education and a path to self-sufficiency for Bridge families.
