On Friday, we’ll play a 9-hole tournament at Needwood Golf Course. Golf equipment will be provided to those who don’t have their own golf clubs. In the afternoon, campers will participate in group activities such as field games (examples: soccer, basketball, kick ball, etc.), and mini-golf. All campers will practice putting, chipping, driving, and using irons and woods at the Driving Range, and then on Friday, we will go to a nearby golf course to play a round of 9 holes. Cool Summer Ice Skating Camp Cool down this summer at Wheaton Ice Arena! This full-day camp is for all, from absolute beginners to upand-coming ice skating stars. Campers will skate twice every day in the morning and afternoon including a 30 minute ice skating lesson taught by a professional instructor and ice time during the public session to practice the skills learned. Lesson groups will be divided based on age and skating ability and skaters will be evaluated at the end of the week to determine their current skating level. If your child loves hockey, why not treat them to a week long hockey camp? This camp will focus on improving individual player skills and teaching game concepts. Skaters will have stations on skating, stick handling, shooting, passing as well as games to improve team play and strategy. Each camper will receive a hockey jersey and will be assigned to groups according to skill level. Full hockey gear is required for camp including a mouth guard. OUTDOOR ADVENTURE Register online at ActiveMONTGOMERY.org MontgomeryParks Outdoor Adventure Camp Discover the outdoors in this wildly popular, high-adventure day camp! Activities scheduled include rock climbing with trained experts, white water rafting with experienced guides, archery with a certified instructor, aerial obstacle ropes and zip line courses, hiking, pedal karts, jumping pillow, go-carts, and plenty of amusement park rides (all subject to change depending on inclement weather). Transportation to and from daily activities is provided and based out of Cabin John Ice Rink. The before care option is available from 8-9am for this camp; no after care is available. FIELD SPORTS Register online at ActiveMONTGOMERY.org MontgomeryParks All Sports Camp Do you have young athletes who love all sports? This camp is perfect for them! The Wheaton Sports Pavilion’s All Sports Camp includes a variety of both traditional and non-traditional sports, skill clinics, and games all aimed to develop individual skill and team work. Campers will play a different sport each day and still participate in traditional camp activities. This fun-filled sports camp brings both boys and girls together to practice and play in a positive and nurturing environment. Camp Staff will run a skills assessment every Monday to ensure campers are divided into groups based on size and ability in order to be successful throughout the week. Campers will participate in drills competition and mini scrimmages. During the week, Camp will participate in a 30 minute Ice Skating, 30 minute Tennis Lesson, and take a field trip to the South Germantown Recreational Park and Little Bennett Campground where campers will participate in archery, mini golf, laser tag and more (weather permitting of course). TENNIS Register online at ActiveMONTGOMERY.org MontgomeryParks Totally Tennis Take your game to the next level while making new friends in this fun, week-long (and air-conditioned) camp for kids ages 8 to 14. Campers will be divided by age and experience. Younger campers and beginners will enjoy games-based activities that teach the fundamentals: eye-hand coordination, movement, and basic tennis strokes plus parts of the court, scorekeeping, and etiquette. Older and more experienced players will be grouped to ensure they get a good challenge during drills and point play with peers while working to improve technique, consistency, and competitive strategy. There will be plenty of time for warm-ups, cardio, and cool down throughout the day, along with breaks for snacks and lunch plus some off-court fun. Totally Tennis campers will enjoy a positive learning environment that not only builds tennis skills, but also fosters teamwork, self-confidence, and sportsmanship. Fridays at Totally Tennis will finish with a mini tournament featuring match play and large group games adapted for all ages and levels. Sneakers and comfortable clothing are a must. If you need to borrow a racquet, we are happy to loan you one. Please bring a non-perishable lunch (peanut free due to allergies), a refillable water bottle, and snacks to last for a full day of camp.
