Clark County Department of Family Services Training Calendar January- December 2020 IMPORTANT NOTE: All classes listed are subject to change. Additional training classes may be added. Please contact the Parenting Project at (702) 455-5295 for further information. REGISTRATION INFORMATION: To register for classes, call the Parenting Project at 702-455-5295, Monday–Friday, 7:00am–5:30pm, or send an email to DFSParentingProject@clarkcountyNV.gov To register by phone or email, please provide the following information. First and last name of each person to be registered Home address Phone number The last four digits of your social security number and your date of birth The name and date of the training Department of Family Services (DFS) Affiliation (i.e. Caregiver, Community Agency or DFS Staff) For any other assistance needed with registration, please contact the DFS Training Team at DFStrainingteam@clarkcountynv.gov or (702) 455-0898. Foster Parent Training Requirements are listed on page 2. If you have questions regarding the trainings you need for your Foster Care License, please call Foster Care Licensing at (702) 455-7400. TRAINING CERTIFICATES: Certificates of Attendance that are not provided at the conclusion of the training will be sent via email within ten (10) business days from the training date. Certificates can also be picked up in person by contacting the Parenting Project at (702) 455-5295. Please register early. To receive credit for training, participants must attend the entire training session. 1

Foster parents are required to complete 12 hours of training annually. Foster parents that will be having their first annual inspection, since their licensure, are to complete the following four (4) trainings found on the QPI website www.qpinevada.org: The Development Web: A Perspective on Learning and Behavior Problems Effective Discipline in Developmental Stages Trauma and the Impact on Children in Foster Care Part 1 and Part 2 Foster parents that have completed these required trainings in previous years, must complete 12 hours of specific classes within their license parameter. For example, if you are licensed for teenagers, please choose trainings relating to parenting teens. Your licensing representative may also recommend specific classes pertaining to your family’s needs. New Federal guidelines require all foster parents to update the “Emergency Preparedness” form annually, which includes an in state and out of state emergency contact. Pediatric CPR and Car Seat Safety Training are also required to be completed in person by all foster parents. CPR is required to be completed every other year and Car Seat Safety Training is required to be completed every 3 years. When: The 2nd, 3rd, 4th Tuesday of each month (Registration is required) Time: 6pm-9pm (Arrive 15 minutes early, doors will close at the appointed start time) Where: 3121 South Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, NV 89109, Suite 600 Register Online: www.safekidsclarkcounty.org Cost: 25 per person Bring: A form of identification Car Seat Checkup Events Certified car seat technicians check car seats and assist owners with proper installation.
