National Service Department This is a big step forward in assisting veterans in filing claims and we are extremely excited to get started. This is a brand new process so the program and usage will be closely monitored, and rolled out systematically. National Service Offices will be providing training to CSOs and DSOs who are certified to gain access.

National Service Department Our Disaster Relief Program supports veterans, service members, surviving spouses and their families during times of great need in the aftermath of a disaster. How Do We Accomplish This? By the sacrifice, commitment, and team work of NSOs, Departments and local Chapters.

National Service Department What Disasters Do We Provide Aid In? Isolated – A disaster that impacts a home! Example: Electrical Fire. Specific – A disaster that impacts a town, city or state! Example: Hurricane or Flooding.

National Service Department How do we help? By providing Providing Grants for Food, Clothing and Lodging. Providing Supply Kits - Backpacks, Blankets and Hygiene Kits.

National Service Department Who’s Eligible? Must have an injury or illness that they believe is related to military service, and/or a surviving spouse. Does not need to be a member nor do they have to be in receipt of compensation. Must be a victim of a disaster!

National Service Department Relief We Provided Last Year In 2016, DAV provided a total of 1,222 drafts totaling 443,500 and roughly 825 supply kits throughout 17 states. Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, Montana, Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Louisiana, California, Utah, South Dakota, Kansas, and North Carolina.

National Service Department DSO-CSO Certification Program Effective January 1, 2002, the DAV began the DSO-CSO Annual Certification Program. Any member may attend the certification training, only appointed or elected Chapter and Department Service Officers may receive actual certification. Annual Certification includes attending either Level I or Level II Training.
