Program Overview University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC) has teamed up with Metropolitan Community College Penn Valley Campus (MCCPV) to offer a Dual Enrollment program that enables students who are actively pursuing an Associate in Applied Science in professional Nursing from MCCPV the opportunity to work towards the completion of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UMKC via the RN to BSN Degree Completion Program. Students will be expected to complete a specified coursework sequence as outlined in the sample plan of study. Students are admitted provisionally to UMKC, whilst working towards completion of AAS with MCCPV and successful completion of NCLEX exam. Please note UMKC SoNHS RN to BSN Completion Program is 100% online program. For the dual enrollment students, the N401 Health Assessment course will be offered as a hybrid course where there will be allotted onsite practice labs and final checkoff. In addition to successful completion of the AAS & NCLEX, students must successfully complete all general education requirements and our upper division nursing courses, to earn a total of 120 credit hours (28 A.D.N., 56 general education, and 36 RN-BSN credit hours). Timeline for Review UMKC RN-BSN program is rolling – which means we allow admission into our program for currently registered nurses every semester; however, for the MCCPV A.D.N. students working on their A.D.N. we only admit in the summer semester. This allows potential financial aid to disburse from MCCPV’s financial aid office during the fall and spring semesters and covered by UMKC’s financial aid office during the summer semester(s). As such, ADN coursework will be taken during the fall and spring semesters and RN-BSN coursework will be taken during the summer semesters until students successfully complete the MCCPV ADN program. Once the supplemental application is complete, an email confirmation can be expected immediately from our Program Director Dr. Anita Skarbek A decision can be expected within 4 weeks of submitting the application.
